Bay View Association Board of Trustees
At its forthcoming winter meeting, the Board will take up the matter of updating Association membership requirements. This past summer the Special Committee on Membership Issues laid a strong foundation for the Board to build upon. Consistent with that work, we strongly urge the Board to undertake changes to our membership requirements that preserve our Christian and Chautauqua traditions, protect the Association’s IRS tax status, uphold our relationship with the United Methodist denomination, and honor Federal and state fair housing laws.
We believe that positive Board action will be a major step in restoring harmony to our community following multiple years of tension and discord. Now is the time for the Board to pursue needed revisions to our membership process informed by the Christian values we all share. We have confidence that the Board can and will meet this critical challenge.
