Hi
since the last update the sort order in the collection view is "order by relevance" / by resourceID.

i can´t set this to "date" ONLY!?

$default_sort="date";

$order_by_resource_id=false;

$colour_sort=false;
$popularity_sort=false;
$random_sort=false;
$title_sort=false; // deprecated, based on resource table column
$country_sort=false; // deprecated, based on resource table column
$original_filename_sort=false; // deprecated, based on resource table column

Currently, this is not possible without modifying the original code.

"Collection Order" is coded as the default sort order for collections and does not take the default sort order into consideration.

Any update on this 3 years later?  :)

We'd like to have Featured Collections sorted by the date they were added instead of alphabetically.  However it makes sense to leave search results sort by relevance.

Thanks!

Hi Yadin,

This thread relates to resource results, not featured collections or featured collection categories.

When looking at a collection's contents (i.e. results) they are always "as added" as you request, so I assume you're talking about catagories or when listing the collections themselves.

Within the next couple of months we're moving featured collections categories to use the same nodes table/structure we use now for fixed list metadata fields rather than the "theme1", "theme2" system we use now. This will make it much easier to manage featured collections and categories and will make it possible to manually order them too.

In the meantime there has been a hack in place for a while whereby you can prefix the names with an asterisk to move them to the top. Two asterisks given them extra high priority, and so on, so you can do some very crude ordering.

Ah, my bad, I misunderstood the original post I guess.

Yes I'm talking about the list of collections, NOT the contents of a collection.  To be clear, when we click on "Features Collections" in the top navigation, it takes us to the "Featured Collections" page.  "Featured collections are groups of resources that have been selected by the administrators to provide an example of the resources available in the system."  The list of collections on that page is alphabetical.  We would like it to be chronological (as added, like the contents of a collection as you say).

Is that possible or not until the change you're talking about (or by "hacking" the names)?

Thanks!

Also, you mention "themes", and I see indeed the featured collection page url is themes.php, and I see a manual page about themes, but there appears to be no such actual thing as themes.  It's not something that appears in any of the navigation, configuration, or admin or system settings.  Am I missing something?  I see some managed content that contains "themes" in the name that seems to elude to more, but I can't find a place where this is relevant.  I also see enable_themes and themes_navlink are default true in the config.default and there is no override in our config.php, but themes still seem to not actually exist in a configurable way?  Any insight there is appreciated.
Thanks again!
