Hi,

Trying to set up a clean install and getting:

Base URL does not seem to be correct (could not load license.txt).

However I can browse to the license.txt file using my web browser and it displays.

Any help grateful received,
Thank you...

Hi Dan,
I had the same problem using Ubuntu 18.04

Found this post from 10 years ago that suggests using a name, as "http://name-of-machine/
resourcespace". Unfortunately it is not an option for me now... Also, I'm currently running another (Debian) machine that uses an IP address as RS BaseURL without any problem.

I've also tried messing around with /etc/apache2/sites-enabled/000-default.conf setting ServerName to the server's IP or localhost with no success.

I hope someone else has a solution for this, I'll return to this post if i find something else that might help.

my best,

Pedro

It worked!
The address must be 'http://localhost", I was using 'localhost' instead...

I also have the problem with a fresh installation. But the problem occurs only in the version 9_2_14719. In the earlier version everything runs

I am having this same problem. A clean install on my webserver is saying:

Base URL does not seem to be correct (could not load license.txt).

Look at config.php in the include folder. Does the URL in $baseurl = 'yourURL' match the web address of your installation? Should be around line 17.

Hey Mike,

Thanks for your reply. I dont have a config.php in my includes. Just a config.default.php and config.new_installs.php

When I change it in config.default.php it stills comes back with the same error.

I suggest therein lies the problem. The RS installation creates config.php with all the specific installation system settings (paths to mysql, etc.). It sounds as if the installation didn't complete correctly.

Maybe delete all the files in your installation directory and try again. Are you installing on a local server or a hosted service?

I am running into this error prior to even installing it. This error comes up when I go to begin installation.

On what platform are you installing -- LInux, Windows? Local or hosted server??

I'm hosting it off a Linux server.

Are you installing using SVN or from the zipped package? Are you sure the supporting Linux packages (MySQL, PHP, etc.) are viable, current
 versions?

Check your permissions on the server and the installation directory.

Hey Mike! I just wanted to follow up and let you know the issue was related to SELinux. I added security policies and everything is working with that.

BUT I have a new issue, when I go to upload ANY asset it loads to a page with the following error:
Error

Sorry, there has been an error loading this page. If you are performing a search please try refining your search query. If the problem persists please contact your system administrator

0 error
undefined

Any ideas?

Off the top I would suspect one of the security policies.

Presuming you have RS set up to add metadata after uploading the system calls "pages/edit.php?upload_review_mode=1", which is a resource edit page.

I tried disabling SELinux and it is still giving me the error. I actually cant do of the tests in the API Test tool without getting an error pop up.

Ran into the same issue and gave up trying on figuring out what it was that was throwing the error.

If you comment out Line 664 & 648 in the pages/setup.php file - it seems to override the error.

After proceeding with that hack, I ran into the issue where the site keeps redirecting to:

I added the following to my config.php

$baseurl="http://my.site/resourcespace"; # The 'base' web address for this installation. Note: no trailing slash

and replaced it with my own.
