staticsync works but no previews

Hi all

just trying to setup a new server with RS 10.5 (was using a very old one). I am using $staticsync_ingest=false as I dont want to move anything to the filestore. Most of the files are mp3's. The static sync works and I see the created resources. The DB shows the correct paths, but when I click on an item, it shows "no file" and there is no audio player. Been trying to work out what is missing here, but no progress. Would really appreciate some guidance.

Hi Zahir.

I haven't had experience with static sync while leaving asset in situ, but I do use static sync as an ingest method. When I was having some issues generating previews, I looked at my previously setup debug log (see RS knowledgebase) and filtered out the ffmpeg lines for at least the command being used. I could then run this on the cmdline against my asset in the filestore, or in your case, I assume against the foreign asset. Hope that offers a starting point to uncover some hints on where the process may be letting you down.
