Hi All

First I like to say that we ever impressed by RS's capabilities. We have begun to implement own install on a managed dedicated server (our earlier shared server simply wasn't up to snuff) and having the extra CPU power is great.

We have a remote server running CentOS on a managed basis which is great to have the help setting up, however ffmpeg is not on their approved repo's list so we can get it installed (unless we take over root access and terminate our managed agreement, something we may do in future but not now).

and for the interim happy with this solution, however none of our uploaded flv preview files will play. Ive tried various combo's in the config file without success.
The resource view shows the aspect ratio box (not the movie icon) but with an X and the phrase: No compatible source was found for this video
The error console throws up two 404's (resource in filestore not found) followed by:
VIDEOJS: (4)
"ERROR:"
"(CODE:4 MEDIA_ERR_SRC_NOT_SUPPORTED)"
"No compatible source was found for this video."

Any clue how to proceed?

Cheers

Paul

One idea that's similar to  uploading FLVs directly, but based on mp4 instead:  If you set

$ffmpeg_preview_extension="mp4"; // to make sure the player is looking for an mp4
$video_preview_original=true; // to show the original file instead of looking for a transcode
$ffmpeg_preview_force=false; // to avoid attempting to use ffmpeg to transcode previews...

and just upload suitable mp4's, the original file should play pretty reliably on modern browsers.

Hi Tom

I'll have a look at this, useful to avoid the need to generate the FLV's

As it turned out too, the reason for the FLV's not playing back was my own browser settings preventing access to plug-ins. Whitelisting our resource space solved that.

Cheers

Hey everyone,

I was chasing my tail on this one for a brand new install until coming across this post so thanks.

I copied this

$ffmpeg_preview_extension="flv";

over from config.default.php to config.php...

Then after reading Tom's suggestion above I changed to

$ffmpeg_preview_extension="mp4";

and poof it works. I still have to manually replace the thumbnail with an Ani GIF but the preview itself is beautiful.

Cheers.
