We are currently testing resourcespace as a vfx-elements video database. For us it is essential to scrub through/view a lot of clips to find a matching clip (like water-elements, explosions, etc.). The current video-implementation in resourcespace is not quick enough for this task. We can see a thumbnail in the overview, but to see the video we first need to enter the page containing the video and then click play. This takes to long to browse several hundred clips.
There are two common approaches which you can see on the following pages:
A preview appears when hovering over a thumbnail with the mouse. This works with images in resourcespace, unfortunately not with videos. All major video-footage-sites have a similar approach.
2) this approach is even better:
A simple mouse-movement shuttles the images in the thumbnail.
This is also used on this site:
Is there anybody who can help us with an integration of either 1) or 2) ?
I would try it myself but it is far beyond my programming skills. I don´t even know if it is possible at all ;)
We are currently running resourcespace on centos.
thanks for any input,
best,
