Smart Featured Collections: Hide Tiles Outside Permissions

Hello RS-Community,

first of all, thank you to everyone who is participating in this forum. I have already had several lightbulb moments.

However, there is one thing regarding user rights management that is giving me a major headache, and I am hoping to find some help here.

I have activated the option for some metadata fields to be used for “Smart Featured Collections” (example: metadata field “Country,” entries: Italy, Spain, Poland). As expected, a hierarchy is now created under Featured Collections: Country => individual countries.

I now want to create individual user groups that only have access to one country (e.g., user group A => Italy, user group B => Spain, user group C => Poland). This works as expected with the filter function. User group A can now only find media with the tag Italy.

The problem: Under “Featured Collections,” Spain and Poland are still displayed as dash tiles after clicking on the country. However, when users click on one of these tiles, no search results are returned (due to the filter). With a large number of countries, this is naturally very confusing for users.

Is there a way to ensure that only those Dash Tiles that the respective user group actually has access to are displayed?

As a workaround, you can of course also make Smart Collections into Featured Collections. But that would be a lot of work, because you would have to create a separate Smart Collection for each country and then show or hide these collections for each user group accordingly. Furthermore, this is explicitly discouraged in the Knowledge Base.

I hope that someone can help me with this question.

Best
Christian
