Apparently exiftool does not support MXF.

Please try to limit your posts by researching a bit yourself first.

Colorhythm has donated to and collaborated on ExifTool's file type
support many times (Office, iWork, RTF, font files, etc.); try
approaching Phil Harvey, offering him a sample file, and do as much
work as you can to help him, like finding the officiel latest file
format specification for MXF files. Then, at your discretion, donate
to the ExifTool cause. Phil is a great man and a great programmer and
may very well be open to expanding support to include MXF files.

Wow, it seems we have a guest star cameo!! AWESOME PHIL! And I
bothered to check out the spec on MXF metadata and about dropped off
my chair. It may be the most extensive dictionary I have ever
seen!!! Wow. Thanks again for your continued contributions.
ExifTool is a pillar of the open source community.

That's great news!
If I compile exif tool on ubuntu, will RS be able to take advantage from the new version? because I've done apt-get upgrade libimage-exiftool-perl and no upgrade is available.
sorry for the dumb question and thanks again for this great project.

Hi Jeff! that's exactly what I've done, I f I run exiftool -ver I get the latest version.
When I read an MXF using exiftool in terminal, I get all the metadata but if I create a new field Start Timecode for example, I fill the exiftool fied with start timecode (this metadata is present in mxf) and
the field is not indexed.

let me know if I'm not explaining myself.
Thanks and merry Christmas

do you literally mean it is not indexed, or that it is not extracted?

i'd like to circumvent the inefficiencies of this conversation by
asking you to take a screenshot of your system setup for this field
and posting it.

Sorry, my bad, not extracted.

I've attached 2 .txt with the configuration values of the field I've created in RS and the output of the exiftool run in terminal to an MXF audio file.
I'm using as the "Exiftool field" the name of the field that the exiftool commandline prints, in this case "Start Timecode".
Thanks for your help and patience.
