When I create a share link, it create a link to a page with resource and description about the resource.

I wanted to create a share link to the actual resource itself, how is that done?

THank you

Select the resource you want to share and click on 'Share' in the Resource Tools section. You create the url to share the resource to  make it available for download in that dialogue.

I clicked on share but I don't see anywhere to "make it available for download" check box or as a selection to choose from in the share resource pop up screen.

i forgot to mention that I am using RS10 +

Only thing that would work would just to open the image then right click to "copy the image link" but that sort of defeat the purpose of securing your contents unless you are only sharing resources you want to use on your website or social media sites

I read the document and watched the video.  It doesn't tell me how to create an link that will hot link directly to the resource itself.   There nothing in the document on how to "make it available for download" like you mentioned in your post. I look everywhere and I still don't see how to add a URL that is a direct URL to the resource itself  NOT TO A RESOURCESPACE PAGE with resource inside the page.  But hot linked directly to the resource itself is what I am trying to create a URL of.  I do see there a button for PDF "View in Browser" something like that is what I am trying to find the same for image that it only show image or holink to the image but instead I am taken to a RESOURCESPACE PAGE with the image inside of the page.  I can't use that link to add image on my webpage as I develop it.

Again I don't see a button or a check box -> "make it available for download" for images .. Maybe I am blind or maybe it bugged in RS 10?  I don't know   Can anyone really help me or check it to make sure it exist instead of throwing here document link or video link in my face when I already read and watch video several times.

Thank you

"It doesn't tell me how to create an link that will hot link directly to the resource itself."

If it's a link you want to create for making a resource available in a web page go to the Resource Page, click on 'Embed' and then scroll down to the section that says " Copy and paste the HTML below to embed this document on a remote website.". Copy the code in the box and paste it into your <img> tag in your Web page.

Yes it what I wanted to do but I don't see "embedded" on resource tool page.

I attached a screenshot of my resource tool page.  Do this something I need to enable in config file?

Thank you

Make sure you have the Embed Document plugin activated.

Another option, depending on how your installation is setup, is to use the API call "get_resource_path" to retrieve the file path to a resource to be used in a URL.

There are some security and setup considerations, but this could be used creatively.
