Previews not generating in RS 9.6

Greetings All--

We recently upgraded from Resource Space 8.6 to 9.5 and then to 9.6. In version 8 new images loaded to the system got previews auto generated no problem. However, since going to 9.x previews are not auto generated, even after waiting considerable time.

In our \include\config.php file we have the following lines:

$alternative_file_previews=true;
$alternative_file_previews_batch=true;

$enable_thumbnail_creation_on_upload = true;

Running the \batch\create_previews.php script does properly generate the missing previews. As a hack I have this file scheduled to run every 15 minutes through Task Scheduler which generates the previews but isn't really fixing the problem.

I have spent many days reviewing Resource Space's Knowledge Base and the postings in this group and haven't got this fixed yet. Anyone got a solution to this problem?

If, by previewing utilities, you mean ImageMagik, Exiftool and the others, yes they appear valid. The Installation Check page in RS shows OK for all those utilities. The create_previews.php script correctly creates previews and I assume that script uses the same utilities.

Please take a look below thread, you will get some ideas and on more thing check your permission to "filestore" folder has proper permissions.

/filestore folder permissions would be my guess as it would explain why running the preview generation on the command line - and therefore as a different user - works.

Thank You Dan!!! That was it. While your reference was for Linux and we're on Windows, it keyed me to something in the Resource Space folder security settings. Sure enough, when I dug deeper I found that I forget to check the option "Replace all child permission entries with inheritable permission entries from this object." That change fixed the broken auto generation of preview images on both RS 9.5 and 9.6. The simple stuff always bites you!!
