Hey,

I've looked around a bit, but I couldn't find a concrete answer to use the filename of files as the resource title. The topics I've found are from 2012.

Use case:

I want to upload 1000 files, the filenames of these files represent what they are. I wish to use the filename as the title of the resource. I do not want to use a custom title that's applied on all 1000 resources, or edit each resource one by one.

Why do I want this?
  • So all titles represent what the resource is, without having to edit each resource to do this.
  • So the mass bulk replacement can replace with the title, as long as the filename is exactly the same.

Preferred solution:
  • Solution 1: When the 'title' field is left empty, files will use the filename as title.
  • Solution 2: A checkbox, with label stating: 'Use filename as title'.

Non-preferred solutions:
Solutions that alter the core code of ResourceSpace in any way, as this will break when updating ResourceSpace.

I'm not sure if this is already possible in ResourceSpace but I can't find a lot of information in either the documentation or this place. Can anyone help me out? Thanks in advance!

Hello Smate,

There options to set this up in default.config.php. Search for
'merge_filename_with_title'

Copy over  the settings to your config.php file and edit to implement for your needs.

Cheers,
Matt

Looking for the solution too - use filename as title.

merge_filename_with_title does not work with the upload_then_edit mode.

Can anyone help?
