ResourceSpace 11.0 Release Candidate

Hi all,

The ResourceSpace 11.0 Release Candidate is now available for testing via the /branches/11.0_RC Subversion branch.

This release includes a substantial number of improvements and new features, including:

• A major UI refresh, including moving search to the top of the interface.

• A completely redesigned search filter panel.

• A new collection bar design.

• Updated search result cards.

• New login page design.

• Migration from FontAwesome to Lucide icons.

• A new colour theme selector replacing all the various colour options with a unified theme system that ensures accessibility standards are maintained.

• Refreshed dashboard and featured collection tiles.

• A dashboard hero banner.

• Bulk upload of alternative files via the CSV Upload plugin.

• Support for geolocation metadata in mapping functionality.

• Additional Action Dates plugin actions.

• Expanded API support for commenting and reporting.

• Support for PHP 8.5.

• Support for MySQL 9.

• OpenAPI specification work to assist integrations.

• Introduction of Composer and JavaScript package management to simplify dependency management and improve maintainability.

• Improvements to field help usability.

• Enhancements to AI integrations, including support for local Ollama-based processing.

As this release contains significant user interface changes and a large volume of new functionality, we'd particularly appreciate thorough testing and feedback from the community before the final release at the end this month.

Please note that this is a release candidate and is not intended for production use. We recommend testing only in development or staging environments.

11.0 also contains an experimental Typesense plugin. It supports only text search and doesn't do much filtering or honour permissions - so clearly not ready for production yet - but would be good to get some feedback. It's very fast, and supports vector search so we'll move to it for the CLIP and Faces plugins. We're working on the missing features for 11.1 so it'll be production ready. Long term we'll likely move entirely to Typesense for search and remove the internal search code.
