Higher-ed cloud-hosting experience with ResourceSpace?

We've been self-hosting our ResourceSpace instance for several years now and we're now starting to run up against disk storage issues and would like to explore the possibility of switching to a cloud-hosted ResourceSpace instance, but the "powers that be" here would like me to find out a bit more info about the experience of others (especially in the higher-ed world, but any info would be better than nothing) in regards to what making such a switch entails. Cost, time, manpower, expertise needed, you name it.

Making the switch to cloud hosting isn’t as scary as some may think. It does help to have experience with the cloud hosting platform prior to making the switch. Some of the management interfaces can feel foreign at first.

In my experience, the migration of the files to the cloud can be a bottleneck, especially for large catalogs. Pushing them from your old system to the cloud may be time consuming. Some cloud providers have solutions for this for an additional cost. I tend to encourage people towards these to cut transition times down, though it does put a freeze on adding new files into the existing system.

Reducing downtime and/or the need to sync up one system to the other is the key. These tasks aren’t impossible, but they do add another level of complexity to the migration.
