Named Persons synonyms

We utilize Named Persons across many of our collections. We've defaulted to using a person's current name but it would be very useful to have synonyms, i.e.:

1.) Becky Smith marries Bob Jones and becomes Becky Jones. In our current setup a search for Becky Smith would not find Becky Jones.

2.) Bob Jones gets a degree and becomes Dr. Robert Jones

... and so on. I've tried making Related Keywords work to no avail. Related Keywords does work for normal keywords but seemingly not for Named Persons.

What am I missing?
