faceRecognizerTrainer update

Has anyone managed to tweak the faceRecognizerTrainer.py script to work with OpenCV 4.x and Python 3.x? I've been tweaking as errors pop up but one eludes me since I'm not a programmer:

Traceback (most recent call last):

  File "/var/www/html/pages/tools/../../lib/facial_recognition/faceRecognizerTra                                                     iner.py", line 38, in <module>

    if (major<3 and minor<7) or minor<3:

TypeError: '<' not supported between instances of 'str' and 'int'

Any idea how to correct this?

I appreciate that suggestion and should have been more clear in that that is what my tweaking has been. :) Commenting stuff out just results in more errors and more lines commented out.
