Emailing users

Hi,

I would like to know why my resource space set up doesn't send a email to a new user after I press the tick box for 'email this user their username and new password'. Could someone tell me why this could be happening?

To add to this I have added the SMTP settings within the config.php but I am now getting the error message 'Mailer Error: SMTP Connect() failed.' I have double checked everything and it matches up with the Wiki. Is there anything else i have to do in addition to what the wiki says?

If you're using Google you should verify the port selected matches your setting for smtp_secure.

Looking at the wiki, it's suggested that the settings are for SSL, but smtp_secure is actually blank...

Also, with Google I've had better luck with TLS (port 587).

Hi Allison,

We are trying to set this up using TLS. Would I be correct in thinking in config.php I need to add the entry $smtp_secure = 'TLS'; ?

Hi,

I have added this entry but I still get the same error? I am assuming that i need to add something else. Could you know what i am missing?
