to ResourceSpace
Hello - thanks in advance for any help

We are in the process of updating an old version of ResourceSpace (7.9.8760). Before we could begin the update, users reported a lack of thumbnails for assets. When we look we say the same issue and opened the Chrome devtool's console. Each asset in the view is throwing a 404 error.

I SSH'd into the AWS EC2 RHEL instance and confirmed there are no custom values in the main config.php related to either "$storagedir" or "$storageurl".

Therefore I checked the directory contents at the default path:
/var/www/vhosts/example.com/filestore
Found that the entire folder is now empty, explaining the 404s!

Looking at the logs I found references to certain PDFs that used to exist under nested folders at that path, with the meta-data oriented folders and filenames, and searched the entire server for that PDF filename, and it's not in any server folder.

I am aware that you can create a symbolic link to that path but I'm not seeing any evidence of that.

The one thing that is different is the folder's ownership; it's owned by root instead of the web server 's account:
....

-rwxrwxr-x  1 apache apache 11463 Feb 10  2021 DpcInclude.pm

drwxr-xr-x  2 root   root       6 Feb 10  2021 filestore

drwxrwxr-x 12 apache apache   202 Feb 10  2021 gfx

....

It's hard to believe that all the files were deleted. Looking for theories as to what might have changed, and how I might relocate my assets.
