I am wondering if there is any way to make the resource either be
'Archived' or restrict access once the expiry date is reached?
Otherwise it is kind of a manual effort to clean up expired resources.

Thanks.

To do restriction based on expiry date, you need to make a function replacement hook for get_resource_access, and include some code that sets access according to the expiry_field, after any userspecific access is returned.
To do it efficiently so that watermarks and such show up in search results without making extra queries, you need to add the expiry field to data_joins.
To confidentialize them, you'd probably have to modify the sql_filter in do_search.

Sorry for digging up such an old post but I have been asked about the same functionality described below:
Could anyone suggest a way to make expired resources inaccessible or a way to archive resources once they expire?

Thank you,

Tom, thank you for your reply. I am fairly new to Resource Space and I did not realize that expired items can be opened for editing and then manually archived. This may have been what your previous answer addressed, but is there an easy way to automate this change of status? If so, could anyone walk me through the process? All we want to do is remove resources that have reached their expiry date. It seems like this would be more intuitive, am I missing something simple?

Oh jeez maybe you have to make a field for it in system setup?  Sorry I'm helping just from my phone right now - today is an American holiday.

In System Setup

Add a new Resource Type Field... and change its type to Expiry Date.

Did you already find an easy solution to auto archive expired items?

This thread is nearly 4 years old.

Have a look at the 'action dates' plugin.
