User permissions - upload w/o being admin

I am hoping to create a group of users that would be able to upload photos/videos into ResourceSpace without having admin access. I tried creating a group "Students" and tried giving them permissions s,f*,w,d but it didn't work - students uploaded media, but as the upload ended they got "permission denied". I tried adding permission c to that as well but it didn't work. In the end I had to make them administrators.

Does anyone have any insight into granting such permissions, but not having the users be admins? Thanks!
