Hi...

I'm trying to setup a test env. of RS. and like the feature about RAW files.

I process my files in Lightroom, and would to use RS as and online gallery. and have my keywords transferred to RS and shown on the web. But the XMP files is listed on the web, together with RAW files.
How do RS link RAW files and XMP files so that keywords is shown for the RAW images?

My files are located on a filestorage mapped into my webserver that hosts RS using StaticSync

I have run into the same issue. Does ResourceSpace not yet support
real RAW editing (RAW file + XMP)? Are there any workarounds?

Raw files are read-only, and contain the original XMP metadata in
their file structure and have no need for XMP sidecars unless the file
has been edited and the sidecar differs from the embedded metadata.
That said, it would be nice to auto-marry XMP sidecars with RAW, but
it's not something the software does at this time.

Thanks Jeff. That's a bummer. Other than this issue, ResourceSpace is
ideal for professional photographers looking for a DAM system that
integrates with their current photography archive and edited RAWs. I
have found one workaround for others who have run into the same
problem; ResourceSpace does seem to handle DNG files and their changes
correctly, so you can always convert your photography archive to DNG
and point ResourceSpace's staticsync at that.

As Jeff says XMP sidecars are not linked with the RAW file during
upload, but it appears that read/write support for embedded XMP is
possible for several RAW formats via Exiftool (which RS uses for
handling of all embedded metadata).

http://www.sno.phy.queensu.ca/~phil/exiftool/#supported

A slightly clumsy workaround: it is possible to upload XMP sidecar
files which at least gets the metadata into RS - you can then use the
"copy metadata from resource with ID.." feature on the resource edit
screen to copy this metadata to the RAW file resource. This avoids
having to rekey data.

I hope that helps.

We use other tools to manage the photos on our fileserver. I want to
have resourcespace watch the fileserver with staticsync and update the
resourcespace as changes are made to the fileserver by our raw
editing tools (lightroom, adobe bridge, photo mechanic, etc.). This
would work perfectly, except that all of our photos are RAW files with
sidecar metadata. Your trick would let me import it all in once, but
wouldn't let us continue to change the files using RAW editing tools,
which is frankly a more important part of our photography workflow
than having a DAM website.

As I said before, there are tools to convert collections of raw files
to DNG, adobe's digital negative format. That allows you to store the
metadata in the file itself, which staticsync and resourcespace
supports. Assuming my organization is OK with changing over to DNG
(we'll find out), my problem will be solved and resourcespace will be
an incredible tool for us.

Thx for the replies

Why don't you all pool some money and hire someone to make it happen?
