Hi,

I'm setting up a new installation for a library to hold archive and historical material.
I want to include some metadata elements that are supported by vocabularies and ontologies, but there doesn't seem to be a way to link metadata elements to existing term lists to ensure that the selectable options are current and refer back to the curated vocabs.  Is there a plugin for this?

Additionally I have a couple of other metadata related queries:

1. I know you can expose the metadata of individual items for download, but is there a "bulk" metadata download for all items in a collection/entire database.  If so what metadata schema does it follow?
2. Is there a crosswalk between IPTC and Dublin Core?

I'm trying to ensure that the items in RS can be discovered and have a high-degree of interoperability with other systems/applications, the first step to this is exposing the metadata for harvesting.  Are there plans to support harvesting protocols such as OAI-PMH? If so where is this on the roadmap?

Many thanks
Dan

Dear Dan,

I have any idea if such plugin exists, but I may suggest you the following points if you want to achieve your goal:

IF (you are a developer) THEN
Study Hooks system and implement your own plugin
ELSE IF (you are sure such plugin doesn't exist) THEN
Pay a Montala developer to write it for you
END IF

May you have a good day!

Kind regards,
·_- JM

Answers to your two specific questions:

Yes. In the action menu within a collection, there’s an option “CSV export - results metadata” which generates a CSV for download. This appears to include all fields on each asset - the schema is whatever you’ve configured for your instance of RS.

> 2. Is there a crosswalk between IPTC and Dublin Core?

Yes. Pardon a little pedantry, but it will help to be specific: IPTC is an organization that governs several different metadata standards. IPTC Core, which is the starting point for XMP-based IPTC metadata, has five fields which map cleanly to DC fields (Title, Subject/Keywords, Creator, Rights/Copyright Notice, Description).

Hope that helps,
Roger
