Hello,
I am using RS 6.1.5219 and have an issue with searching within collections.

- When I search for any resource with any date, the images added to Public Collections do show up (that's good).
- However, when I want to select a year (2010 or 2013), they are no longer found even though they were taken by digital camera and when I check an example photo, the date is 10 May 13.
- The same happens when I specify a keyword I am sure is assigned to these photos and press search - nothing is found.

I have enabled searching within collection but to no avail. I have made sure that dates, keywords and such are set up as indexed.

I'd most appreciate any hint as to what to how to troubleshoot it.

Thank you very much for your help in advance!

You may need to reindex your system (pages/tools/reindex.php)

By the way the presence (or not) of a resource in a public collection does not (normally) affect whether it will show up in search results.

Thank you for that. The reindexing has been done but it has not changed anything. :(

Any other idea? Thanks!

There are two date options for field type. Which type is your date field set to? If you switch it to the other option and reindex the field does it help?

Also, is the date field a global field? Is it mapped to a particular metadata field?

Hello!

# Searchable Date Field:
$date_field=12;
And in the system setup ID 12 is for the Date field.

Thanks!

go into system setup -> resource types/field and find the date field with ID 12. Is it part of the global fields group?
Also, find out what the following are set to:

"field type"
"exiftool field"

or, if you can, take screenshots of the whole thing :)

Hi Alison, Thank you for your help!

I have just noticed that the filed type is set to "Date and optional time" as opposed to just "Date". Should I change that? Most of the things are by default, including I think this one. Exiftool is set to DateTimeOriginal

I will send the whole screenshot if it does not help a bit. Thanks!

Would anyone have any other idea why resources are not found unless no search criteria is specified? Thank you!

Zbigniew, are you trying to search collections only while using the date? That is, are you using the "Public Collections" checkbox on simple search without selecting any resource types?

If I only have collection types selected without any resource types and try to use the date no results show for me either. Without any resource types selected you'd only be looking for collections and i don't believe the creation date for collections are indexed.

Hi! Thanks Allison for your time!

I get results only when I select a resource type (or include all of the types), select Public collections and press search. This does find the two collections I have created so far. However, as soon as I limit this search by typing a keyword or selecting a country from the drop-down menu in the simple search panel, I am not able to find anything. However, when I open a resource that is in a public collection, I can see that the country and keywords are there so I should be able to find them. The fields are indexed, I have even re-indexed the database so I am at loss what to do next. Thank you!
