Hello, I installed ResourceSpace a week ago, and though I've been trying, I can't get any video thumbnails or previews to appear. The images have thumbnails, and FLV videos can play but have no thumbnails.

Below are as many details I can think to include. Any advice much appreciated.

Server: Win7, IIS7
HTTP error log file has nothing but "Timer_ConnectionIdle"
On the server ffmpeg works in command prompt
The file below plays on the server
original files can be found in filestore, but no previews

File details: MP4 file
    Video codec: H264 - MPEG-4 AVC (part 10) (avc1)
Audio codev: MPEG AAC Audio (mp4a)

ResourceSpace
Installation check: everything OK
The following set in config.php
    $ffmpeg_preview
    $ffmpeg_preview_seconds
    $ffmpeg_preview_options
    $ffmpeg_supported_extensions

Sadly, no. I'm still just as lost. I've tried a few things I've found here, but I've not gotten anywhere. AFAIK, it's not a security issue, since image thumbnails are being created.

Hello, the rest of the list, is this a Windows-only problem, and everyone else on Linux?

Mine:  FFmpeg SVN-r22941

Other: ffmpeg version N-37586-g6833fe4

Could version of FFmpeg be a reason for video previews not working properly? Any Idea?

Collections don't seem to download to my Ipad. Same problem with individual photos. Is there an Ipad setting that needs adjustment?

The iPad does not have a native file system so I doubt you can download anything from any DAM.

I can open individual photos and save them to my iPad. I can also saved zipped collections and unzip them in a program called "GoodReader".

Njenny, Apple added local storage to the ipad.

I tested downloading from my Kindle Fire and that doesn't work either.  I can't download anything in fact.

Well no, I'm pretty sure that's not it for me. The command line test & even a php script converted the file fine.

As far as I can tell, his problem isn't the same as mine, though I may be mistaken. I'm woefully inexperienced with IIS.

Anyway, I've solved this problem by simply switching to an Ubuntu server. :P

Yep this is what I am going to do exactly this or next week. So any comments in that regards would be nice :)

Actually thank you just for that comment - so all your video previews and thumbnails do work on Ubuntu?
Which Ubuntu have you installed?

Have you installed Ubuntu as a server using windows or just Ubuntu?

I tested on both Ubuntu 11.10 & Ubuntu Server 10.04. No windows, no point. Yes, all the previews & thumbnails work, except for a few videos which I suspect have some kind of rare codec.

After all the installations, restart apache at least once, otherwise the RS install page might not appear. Also, the wiki does not include installation of phpmyadmin. Remember to backup your config.php & mysql db first.

Everything works just great accept not plying the VIEW (playing video
preview).
What have you changed in config.php for it to work?

Appreciate

PS loving Ubuntu (using Ubuntu Server 11.10)

I've changed nothing. After I installed everything, the video previews just worked. Take a look at the install check?
