Modern Authentication for email

Microsoft365 is more and more requiring modern, multi-factor authentication. But as far as I can find, the only way ResourceSpace can authenticate to send emails is with an SMTP username and password in the config.php file.

Am I missing other methods somewhere? I've searched the Knowledge Base and this group, but cannot find anything.

Our organization no longer allows app passwords, so that option is out. Are there other ways to send emails from our Microsoft account?

Sadly the obvious solution is to use a relay service like SendGrid, at least in my experience.

Although I see PHPMailer does tecnically support oauth2 (as required by Microsoft 365), but it requires an update in the ResourceSpace code to implement it.
