Searching for resources with no vlaue in check box list field. HOW?

Hello,

I imagine I am missing something simple here.  I have a few thousand resources (photos) and there are a handful of them that have no values in a check-box-list field.  How do I quickly search or filter for these?  I want to populate these few records.

My field is called "Models" and one can check any number of the names of the models in this check-box-list field, including none (not all images have models).  Say I have 2,000 images with "Jessica" as the model and when I do an advance search with "Jessica" selected, and the results show 1,987 resources, then how do I quickly find the 13 resources with missing model data?

I suppose a work-around would be to populate all 1,987 resources with a temporary keyword such as "has model". Then search keywords for resources without this keyword (using "- has model" syntax?).  

Anybody have a good answer to this?

I think this reference from the KB might work:

Resources with empty field

Show Resources with no data in the specified field specified by the field ID. This will require access to the system setup to find out the field ID. Please note: via simple search the results will be that of your default search status e.g. resources in the "Active" state. For more control over what is searched please use the advanced search functionality.

Syntax: !empty[fieldref]

Example: !empty54
