Quick update for you all. We (at least I) hadn't seen public confirmation until now that FIRST LEGO League (FLL) will be releasing a new set for the upcoming season. There were previously talks of re-branding or canceling, but FLL will "reveal new FIRST LEGO League sets" on May 15!
It is unclear what exactly we will find out on May 15th. Last year, at the FIRST Championship, they showed us the entire field built and assembled and streamed it. We didn't know the rules or the objectives, but we knew what the board would look like. It's very possible that we get that on May 15. It is also possible that we get full on details (maybe even building instructions) of the challenge, though from the rumblings I've heard, that's much less likely. It could be something completely different.
Also please be prepared for structuring changes. Competitions WILL look different in 2020-2021 IF they can happen. It is also expected that this will vary considerably by region. We may get word on SOME of these changes on May 15. We also might not get anything, so be prepared for that, too.
I have lots of great stuff in the pipeline for helping your team adjust its operations for a modified season. Nothing is set in stone yet, and I'm waiting for official word from FIRST before releasing anything which could be obsolete or irrelevant. Keep an eye out, though!
Stay safe. Stay inside.
Jared
P.S. FIRST Championship merch is very cheap right now from the FIRST store since the event didn't happen and there's way too much inventory left. They're also shipping any orders which contain Championship or 2019-2020 season (FIRST Rise - City Shaper, Infinite Recharge, etc.) merchandise for free if you use the promo code at the top of the page which is HUGE because shipping is usually quite expensive from the store, as are many of the products. Feel free to check it out:
