Of obvious interest. Perhaps we should invite them to our resource discovery group meeting to give a presentation?

The NIH also announced this week launching of the electronic Research Materials catalogue (eRMa) to streamline the federal government's technology transfer process. Examples of non-patented materials available through the catalogue include mouse models used to develop new cancer therapies and cell lines used to test new therapies for chronic diseases, such as high blood pressure. eRMa was designed and developed by the Office of Technology Transfer (OTT) at NIH with support from the NIH’s National Cancer Institute Center for Cancer Research. The more information is available at:http://www.nih.gov/news/health/nov2011/ott-28.htm

Very interesting! So, on the other side of the table, i2iconnect.org is unique in that we have used industry standard terms to create categories where industry licensing representatives can describe their product development interests. We were strongly encouraged by our CTSA industry advisory board to describe 'what industry wants' rather than 'what academia generates' for a number of reasons. I think it would be very interesting to bring the two together. If there are relevant ontologies on the invention side, we would love to look for opportunities to map them to what we have on the industry side, which I believe could lead to 'industry networking' applications.

An obvious question – how does the below map to what CTSA-IP (Scott Steele), iBridgeNetwork, etc. are doing…

Whaddya think? - Bill
