Thank you to all of you who helped plan and lead the 2012 conference for the Association of Lutheran Resource Centers in Chicago last week. It was another example of the gifts of resource center leaders in the ELCA and the difference each of you makes. From the experience of working with visio divina and the St. John’s Bible Project, to a presentation by Sparkhouse’s Michael Novelli about biblical storytelling, to interaction and lively conversation with each other, with Christina Jackson-Skelton and others from Mission Advancement as well as Augsburg Fortress leaders like Kay Neubauer and Judy Washburn, we learned so much.
Resource ministry in the ELCA is alive and well! It’s a critically important part of leadership support and resource support across the church. Thank you for all the ways you make such a difference, day in and day out. For those who weren’t able to join us this year, make it a priority to attend the next one—these conferences are invaluable on multiple levels.
A huge thanks as well for the surprise celebration on Friday evening! I am filled with gratitude and thanksgiving for the privilege of having worked with ELCA Resource Centers and the ALRC over so many years. And when I step down this spring, it’s with a sense of joy and confidence in the leadership each of you provides. Thank you for cards and letters and tributes and gifts!
