How to build an app or PC based reporting for vbus.net connected devices

Ok, this is probably a silly question, but hopefully it can be useful for others to.

I know a little Java, a little Javascript, a little Python and use Vbus.net's user interface a lot.  Resol has an app -  now old, not-really-working app for vbus.net connected DL2 units.  I've used Github a little too, etc...

Could you lay out what I'd need to do to build a reporting app, or even sandbox of reports of my own?   I know about Daniel's stuff on Github.  I have not been able to really find documentation to help me understand the Vbus.net API, and I'm a beginner in all the languages, full-stack stuff.   Still, I've been able to get data out of my local site's DL2 and via Vbus.net (though after logging on via a browser first and then entering commands in cURL (I think)...
