Are you sure that you are editing the right file? /etc/grub/grub.cfg is an auto-generated file and it will update from configuration in other files whenever you run update-grub. You need to make changes into /etc/default/grub for them to take effect.

What I think is happening at the moment is that you change /etc/grub/grub.cfg and then you run update-grub, which reverts your changes, and then when you reboot you don't get what you want. Please try changing /etc/default/grub and then let us know what the output is.

When you have a layout graphic that's set to adjust height or width as its fitting strategy (loving this capability by the way!), editing the width via the boxes shown above triggers a Windows sound. On Windows 11, it's a bit of a "blllouuuiiing"... and I can do without it here.

I'm not sure exactly which one it is, because I've altered mine already. This is something I've done on my computers since early on in ArcMap days to save my sanity, especially while editing features.

Hi There,
Yes it does effect you gig. A minor update on your gig can remove you from search for 12-48 hours. I have personally experienced this and confirmed with customer support. I will suggest you to come up with a good gig copy, pricing and requirement at once. Though, there is no limit on editing gig, but it certainly removes you from search for minimum 12 hours.

I am creating social media graphics that need to be updated on-the-go (like sporting event updates). Since Adobe has yet to add the "shadow" effect which has been widely requested, I have resorted to duplicating a layer and using the duotone filter and blur function to "create" a shadow. Although it's extra steps, this works well and looks good when I use Express on my desktop Chrome browser.

The problem occurs when I attempt to edit the project using the Adobe Express app on my iPhone. When opened, the blurred image completely changes to a solid shape with hard edges. Trying to adjust the blur effect in the iphone app does not change it.

If I close the app and reopen, the project returns to its orginal appearance. However, I need to be able to export the graphics from my phone and cannot do that without any shadows I have created appearing as solid blobs.

Thanks for the reply. The problem appears on my iPhone 13 (iOS 16.0), using Adobe Express version 11.6.0. I have already tried reinstalling the app. The only way I am able to preserve the blurred "shadow" effect I create in my graphics is by downloading the project as a JPG using online version of Adobe Express on my desktop, then emailing the JPG file to myself and posting it to social media from there - obviously not ideal when I need to post score updates at sporting events.

Posting both versions here, so you can see the change I am describing...the first one is the orginal creation, exported as a JPG from the online Express in Google Chrome, the second is the same project saved to my iPhone camera roll using the Express iPhone app. Exporting from the iPhone app generates a PNG file (does not give the option to export as a JPG or PDF, as the online version does).

The problem continues and it is very frustrating, to the point I am going to begin looking at other software options. I have reinstalled the app multiple times. I have tried exporting projects in different formats, no change. It doesn't matter if the blurred item is an imported image or a stock image, it happens to any image on which I have used the background removal tool.

Sorry no one replied sooner. I was able to replicate the issue from my side too. I'll report the issue to our developers. This looks like some kind of project compatibility issue between desktop and mobile. Thanks for bringing the issue to our attention.

Since my original post, I have discovered that the problem with losing blur effects after exporting (or, even when just attempting to edit the project in the mobile app) also occurs in the desktop version, as well. I am a member of the "Adobe Express Insiders" Facebook group and have reported this issue there, as well. There is actually a pretty long thread on there from a post I made yesterday (Feb. 7) regarding this issue, where you can find additional details and more photos illustrating the problem. The moderators of the group have indicated they have passed along the issue to Adobe Express developers.

It does appear that the problem has been resolved on the desktop app. I was able to go in to one of my existing projects, add a drop shadow to an element by duplicating it, then changing it to duotone and employing the blur tool. I then saved the image to my desktop as a JPG and the shadow effect remained. This is excellent news and I appreciate you and your team working on this today!

However, I did not get the same results in the mobile app. After having success with the desktop, I opened the revised project on my iPhone in the Adobe Express app. Initially in my projects menu, the graphic did appear to have the drop shadow properly blurred. But when I selected the project to edit, the shadow immediately reverted back to a solid color with defined edges...I tried closing the app and opening again, as well as shutting down my phone and restarting. Same result.

I've recreated your steps and realized that the blurred effect never went missing. It is only harder to detect as the display on your mobile phone is much more precise than on your laptop or monitor because pixels are packed closer together as the display sizes decrease.

72PPI is commonly used for online pages as it decreases file sizes and saves loading time since a screen will only show at 72 PPI (Pixels per inch). As a result, a low-resolution image is presented to its full effect and appears very clear. If this image were to be viewed on a mobile phone with 300PPI, you'd be able to indicate visible changes, which is, in your case, the blurredness.

The so-called magic number is around 300 PPI. When designing a project on the Adobe Express Desktop version, every project is set automatically to the view of 42% to be more user-friendly. Considering that someone might be working on a smaller display.

Please set your page view back to 42% if you haven't already, and then follow your usual steps with a difference in that you select the blurred intensity between 25 - 30, as the blurred power is always pre-set to 5. (I prefer the intensity setting to 30, which shouldn't be lower than 25.) Please note that depending on your display size, you might have to scroll further down to change the intensity number.

I hope that this resolves your issue. If it does, kindly remember to "Like," mark the response as the "Correct Answer," and copy and share this link to other platforms to help other users or community members who might stumble across the same issue locate the answer faster.

I do not believe this issue has anything to do with page view. It is a problem with how the blur tool performs in the application. When I employ a blur effect in a project while working in the desktop platform, I am able to create the desired effect. When I then try to open the same project in the mobile app, the blur effect initially is shown in the thumbnail image in the project menu. When I click on it to edit, the blur effect immediately switches to a solid blob (the edges may be slightly feathered, but is it still solid). Once it has done this, it does not go back to the original look in the mobile app.

Attached are two JPG images of the project I edited yesterday. The first one shows a manufactured drop shadow on the left side of the player in front. This JPG was exported from the desktop application yesterday after you messaged me about the problem being resolved. I was able to successfully produce the desired image that I could then use.

There is a clear difference in the two images with respect to the blurred shadow effect that cannot be explained away by page view size. Nothing else in the image is different in appearance other than the drop shadow that I created using the blur tool. Prior to yesterday, the problem occurred in both the desktop AND mobile apps. Now, it is just the mobile app.

I should also mention that once the shadow converts to the solid blob in the mobile app, trying to adjust the blur using the blur tool within the mobile app does not change its appearance. When I move the sliding scale in the blur tool, the shadow layer either disappears completely or becomes a solid square. There is no in-between. It's clearly a problem with the blur tool itself and how it performs in the app. Attached is video from my iPhone taken this morning that shows what I am describing.

OK, so I zoomed in to 400% and I can see the the opacity of the blur changes according to the zoom. When zoomed in, the shadow is actually "darker" and covers the team logo in the background more. You can see a difference in the visibility of the letter L in OKLAHOMA on the logo. So I guess maybe it's an issue with the sliding scale in the mobile app blur tool (as shown in the video below). I want a soft shadow that looks like the JPG from my desktop. The sliding scale in the mobile app's blur tool should allow me to adjust the "spread" of the shadow to create a softer effect, as it does in Photoshop (and in the AE desktop app). Does this make sense?

A suggested workaround from one of the engineers would be to permanently save the image with the background removed. Then save that image to your phone, re-add it to your project on the Adobe Express app, and apply the desired effects.

That's the workaround that I am currently using. If I have a graphic that requires a drop shadow, I have to create it in the desktop app and save it as a JPG. I can then import it as an imaged layer in a new project and then add additional elements that don't require shadows. That will work for now. But honestly, it would be just as easy (and I would have more design tools at my disposal) to do the same thing in Photoshop and bring that image in to AE.
