TheListening test is the same for both IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training and consists of four recorded monologues and conversations.

The following IELTS Listening sample tasks are to be used with the Answer Sheet and MP3 audio files and/or transcripts. Each answer sheet indicates which recording to listen to, or if a transcript is provided.

In the Speaking test, you have a discussion with a certified examiner. It is interactive and as close to a real-life situation as a test can get.

There are three parts to the test and each part fulfils a specific function in terms of interaction pattern, task input and test taker output.

In Part 1, you answer questions about yourself and your family. In Part 2, you speak about a topic. In Part 3, you have a longer discussion on the topic.

The Speaking test is the same for both IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training. Each of the three parts is designed to test a different aspect of your communication ability.

A variety of tasks is used including: multiple choice, matching, plan/map/diagram labelling, form completion, note completion, table completion, flow-chart completion, summary completion, sentence completion, short-answer questions.

In Part 1, you are presented with a graph, table, chart or diagram and are asked to describe, summarise or explain the information in your own words. You may be asked to describe and explain data, describe the stages of a process, how something works or describe an object or event.

In Part 2, you are asked to write an essay in response to a point of view, argument or problem.

IELTS on computer practice experienceThe practice experience will show you how everything will look on your computer ahead of the test day. As these are practice tests, they are not timed. There are some variations from the live tests, including the timer, highlighting, and notes functions performing differently.

The sample test questions will help you to decide which option you prefer, and to prepare for the test. These sample materials will give you an idea of what to expect in the Listening, Reading and Writing sections.

The IELTS Familiarisation test, or IELTS mock test, helps you prepare for your test by providing sample test questions, giving you the actual test experience on your computer*. Unlike the actual IELTS test, these practice tests are untimed, so you can familiarise yourself with the test screens and you can take your time navigating different parts of the test.

Every organisation sets its own entry requirements. In some cases, both versions of IELTS may be accepted. Check with the organisation you wish to apply to before you book your test to learn which module is accepted.

Test centres make every effort to cater to the special needs of disabled candidates. If you have special needs, you can choose the special arrangements that suit you during registration. The Listening, Reading and Writing components of the test are always completed immediately after each other, with no break in between. You can choose the date of your Speaking test. The Speaking test may be taken on the same day or up to 3 days either before or after the test date.

Only pencils, pencil sharpeners, mechanical pencils, erasers and a water in a transparent bottle. You must also bring the passport/national identity card (TC Kimlik) you used on the IELTS Application Form to the test.

While the use of headphones provides candidates with an individual and focused listening experience, it also helps minimize external noises in the test room. It is only personal experience that the use of individual headphones has a positive effect on performance in the listening section. Factors such as the content of the questions, the time given, and the evaluation of results are the same as in other tests without headphone use and do not affect the test outcome.

Security at IELTS tests is important to us. Certain test locations have introduced a new procedure for enhancing IELTS test security that involves taking and authenticating photographs of test takers on the test day. Under this new procedure, IELTS administration staff will take an individual, passport style photograph of all candidates present on the test day.

Your National Turkish ID or passport. Please note that only valid ID (with a recent photo) or passport (must not be expired) are accepted. For your IELTS test application, you must accurately record this information in our system during the registration.

After registering you will receive an automatic IELTS application summary e-mail including your test reference number. In the following few days or a few days prior to your test date, a confirmation e-mail will be sent.
