Essentially, I tried to predict how many piatas per group should exist if they were randomly selected based on biodiversity (e.g. if one phylum contains 50% of all species, then 50% of piatas should be members of that phylum). I assumed that the total number of piatas in the game was constant (88). I wanted to know: what types of animals were under-represented? Which ones were over-represented? What groups were missing entirely?

For comparisons at the phylum level, I compared the piata species to each of the 31 phyla in the kingdom Animalia. As you can see in the bar plot below, the phylum Chordata (which includes all vertebrates [fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds, mammals], as well as tunicates) is very well represented in Viva Piata, but actually makes up a relatively small amount of real biodiversity. In reality, the phylum Arthropoda dominates the biodiversity landscape, making up more than 80% of all described species (>1 million species)! Remember that this is also based on described species only, which likely underestimates arthropod diversity compared to other macro-organisms such as mammals.

Your chart is wrong. Certain species of pinata have a metamorphosis state that is only fulfilled when specific environmental requirements are met (ie whatever they eat to go into metamorphosis). The game may call them separate species but if you look at leafos advice is often wrong and the best gardener pervious to you was a level 30 gardener and the max level is 200; I would not put much stock in the unreliable narration of the game.

So i hired her to save some time selling my apples and whatnot. but the bitch refuses to do anything, she just walks arround letting my apples rot away. wtf is up with that? do i have to do something in order for her to start working?

Yup, she is one useless bitch. Hire her for the achievement, name her for another achievement (if she's your first hire) and then fire her ass. I would've fired her, but instead she got her fat ass stuck, then some bandit came and destroyed my tree to free the useless slag. They ran off together, no doubt living in a low-rent townhouse, exploiting the Pinata Island welfare system.

In fact, are any of the hirelings that useful? The waterling is unreliable, I'd rather just water stuff myself to make sure it survives. Plus, once you get the best watering can, watering plants is easy as pie. I don't think the weedling has ever done anything. The only weeds in my garden are the ones I've grown personally, and when they've fulfilled their purpose, I just destroy them with my shovel. The watchling is pretty useless too, especially after you've built up your tower of sour. I think maybe the only useful one is the miner, because you can get a dragonache out of it. And the mine itself is good for getting the master garden value achievement. But even the mine had to go when the garden was getting too full. The hirelings are ugly too. Here I am trying to grow a beautiful garden, I don't want some fat gatherling prancing around, moaning about how there's no work to do.

On top of all that, when I build a fence separating parts of my garden to avoid fights between two species that I'm romancing, I put a fucking gate there for a reason. Then these stupid hirelings leave the gate open, and a stupid ponocky loves nothing more than sprinting for an open gate, so that it can get its ass kicked by a horstachio.

My problem with that bulbous dolt is that she keeps taking up things I leave on the ground for my pinatas to eat... it's been hell trying to get two Cinnamonkeys because the bitch keeps taking up my monkeynuts. I'm losing my mind now because that c#nt Professor Pester killed Mr. Chips -- one of my Cinnamonkeys -- and that slob is preventing me from getting a visitor Cinnamonkey to stick around. I'll buy pumpkins from the store and leave them out for Badgcicles (or whatever) and she'll come and steal 'em. How do I fire her fat ass? She's ruining my garden!

To date all she has ever done for me is pick up what I put on the ground to attract pinatas. She lets all my fruit rot once it falls off the plants. I did enjoy beating her useless ass though. A week ago I saw a rotten apple on the ground and it reminded me of her. So I rehired her once just so I could have the pleasure of beating her again. Good times .

I find her useless. If she's unhappy though, she'll be less likely to help. You can try building a Helper House so she doesn't have to travel as far, and you can also let her off of work early to make her a bit happier. I wouldn't waste my time with it though. She's not very smart...

But for anyone trying to get her to do something, I think happy workers are more productive. If you go into the menus, not only can you fire them but, you can give them money to perk them up. Or maybe feed them happy sweets? Naming them seems to improve their mood as well.

I literally had her fenced in around a crap ton of Chili's, and she says theres no work to do. Then when she finally does see them after being directed, she sells about 4 of them and stops. Better off just firing her right after you get the achievement.
