This is a very special story. Henry had been missing since May 14th
(almost a month). His 81-year old owner was devastated. Two weeks
ago, she met a Ladera resident who told her to contact me (I've become the
Ladera pet person).
Anyway, I knew that
Alberta would really need my help because she was elderly, no computer and was
devastated over the loss of Henry. I just spoke to her a few days ago and
she had given up hope but I told her to "keep hope alive"
because he is
microchipped and that one day a phone call would come.
Well, this morning at approximately 6am, I got the call that we've been so
desperately waiting for! A lady called to say she thought she had
Henry. She saw my flyer up at Bank of America at La Cienega and Fairview
which in itself is a miracle that it had not been removed and was not
damaged from the rain last week. Well, I threw on some clothes and
went right over to her house which was near Western and Vernon (almost 5 miles
from here). I have never met Henry but it sure looked like him from the
picture so I knew in my heart it was him. She did not know that a
microchip had to be scanned so she never had him checked.
Make a long story short, I took him immediately to Alberta's house and
called her from my cell phone and told her to come to the door... that I had a
surprise for her. She immediately fell to the floor clasping/hugging her
Henry. The joy was unbelievable! See picture below.
Thanks to everyone for caring, for being on the lookout for Henry, for
positive vibes, prayers, etc. ALL of those things brought Henry
home. I am so happy!!! Once again... I have to send this reminder
again... PLEASE put ID tags on your pets and never walk them with the lease
connected to that collar. Either walk them with a harness or a choker
collar or a Martingale collar. The collar with their tags should always
remain on them like a body part. Again, you can make a temporary ID tag at
the pet stores while you order better ones online. Here are two

If you want your pet microchipped, let me know. Microchips and ID
tags are equally important. Pets need both. Don't forget to look at
the picture below. It was a wonderful sight!

An elderly lady lost
her dog on or about Thursday, May 14, 2009 while walking him at La Cienega and
Fairview and she is DEVASTATED. He came out of his
collar so he has no ID tags on but he is microchipped. We think someone
probably picked him up and is afraid to take him to the shelter not knowing he
is chipped.
He is a friendly
3-year old black Schnauzer mix, neutered and about 20 lbs. He has floppy
ears and a cropped tail. See his picture below. His name is
Henry. If anyone has seen this dog or knows anything, please contact
