Hi neighbors,
It’s just come to my attention that Sorrento Court is a “private” street. As such, unknowingly I parked my beautiful car on the court (during an Eagles game after coming back from Acme) and had an enormous sticker on my car window. THE STREET IS PRIVATE. IF YOU PARK HERE AGAIN YOU WILL BE TOWED. I live on Capri and whomever stickered my car had to recognize it as the car of a neighbor.
Worse yet, on Christmas Eve, my cousin parked there, very close to the corner and found a similar sticker on her suv, right in her line of vision. She couldn’t move her car because she couldn’t see out the window. We had to scrape and use goo gone to remove the rather large sticker.
If Sorrento is indeed a private street. Where is the signage? Why do they get city trash pickup? Hmmmmmm. Very interesting.

Linda.

I will take a try at this. This is my recall and understanding.

Sorrento Ct is a private street, meaning it is not property official dedicated to the City as a City Street that is on the City Plan.  However, it is not gated and it is not private like a driveway, so anyone can park there.  There are no “No Parking” signs there.

I obtained the zoning approvals for the Reserve. I also  was the first HOA President and was involved in the Street discussions.  At the inception of the Reserve, the “private streets” were not going to have City trash pick up or maintenance.  That was to create added expenses for us homeowners.  We had discussions with then Councilwoman Anna Verna about the Streets, and on our behalf introduced legislation into City Council to authorize the City to provide City services (trash) for the private streets.  I seem to recall that also meant that the City would take over responsibility for the maintenance and repair of those streets.  20th St, Tuscany Dr, Reserve Dr, and Capri Dr.  are on the City Streets plan (meaning they receive City trash pick-up, snow removal and maintenance), although HOA snow removal is provided on all streets because we all pay the same dues.

I hope that helps.

Ron
