Earlierthis evening I was working on a project when I used the Insert Edge Loop tool. I wanted to access the settings for this particular tool, but, the Move tool settings window kept opening instead. I had to shut down Maya (2019) and relaunch it. Only this way did I fix the problem, or just temporarily.
Given that you recently bought a new PC the issue is likely that the window is opening, just off screen somewhere. This is a common problem when moving Maya files between PC's especially when the screen resolution, number of screen, orientation etc change. Maya still puts the new window in a place that just so happens to be off screen.
I closed Maya and reopened it and the problem disappeared. I'm guessing this is just a glitch as found in any 3D software. Currently I'm using a computer with Win10 and that does not help either. Last week after an update all my directories changed to "Read Only" and that has caused problems as well. For example. I can't create a new Maya project directory because it's set to "Read Only". I'm sure my problem stems from this Windows glitch.

Epic has provided a vertex animation tool for Max, and I was wondering if anyone has authored a Maya version that is open source. Want to make sure one does not exist before I embark on writing my own. Considering making mine open source if I end up writing one.
I read through that, and was confused about what you actually wanted.
Are you looking for that specific underlying algorithm where the animation is stored as textures?
Or are you just looking for an interface that makes it easy to deal with animating and authoring shapes over time?
There is a concept of baking any kind of animation that drives vertex position/normal to a texture for real-time performance optimization. Epic provided the script to do this operation for 3dmax which is great. But teams that use Maya seem to author their own version that does the same. But every new studio ends up writing their own and keeps it under lock and key for obvious reasons. So I will write an open source version for Maya so everyone can have it and improve upon it. Hope that sheds more light on the question.
I googled plenty and did not encounter those projects for some reason. This is a place where people come for support and I find it better to be welcoming and supportive, rather than to make assumptions and snide remarks. That said, those projects do look promising, so thank you for bringing them to my attention.
The tool will take an array of Mesh Objects and allow you to export them all to a path as individual FBX or OBJ files. You can also export Groups as FBX if need be. It will also provide information in the UI about what types of data are applied to your geometry; Color Sets, UVs, Shaders, etc.
This will will allow you to choose an array of objects that will have their transforms sampled and be replaced with a Replacement objects. If you have Frozen Transforms or employ a workflow that utilizes frequently freezing your transforms in Maya...
Bonus Tools 2020-2024 is a free collection of useful Autodesk Maya scripts and plug-ins. After installing Bonus Tools, an additional pull-down menu will be added to the end of the main Maya menu providing easy access to a variety of tools and utilities for daily use. Maya Bonus Tools has been organized to mimic the layout of the standard Maya menu sets with each sub-menu containing a number of related tools.
Really love tools included. What I cant understand is why such massive company as Autodesk cant make it available for new Maya version on release but one has to wait few months. Still no version compatible with Maya 2024 and there was already patch to Maya. Also - why these tools are not included in Maya? Again - fantastic tool set unnecesairly separated from Maya itself and updated few months into release for no reason.
Hello everybody. I have Maya 2018. I have installed the bonustools but the menu does not appear. in the description it says that it is also good for this version. I am very interested in speedcut. can anyone help me? :)
I downloaded this specifically for the Poly Volume. It works great. Perfect. Make sure you enable the "Measure" Plug in so the Poly Volume will be accessible because by default it is grayed out and requires the Measure Plug in.
When checking the install location, the new plugins/scripts all reside within the install folders, unless i'm missing something, it seems this was shoddily packaged with a previous version of the installer and configuration files.
Sweep Mesh is not a stable or flexible enough replacement for Curve to Ribbon Mesh. Sweep Mesh has tripled my work time for the same task due to having to fiddle with UV's for each individual hair card and being unable to smoothly work with more than one mesh at a time. Please keep Curve to Ribbon Mesh for another year or two while Sweep Mesh finds its footing.
I have the same issue, the new tools don't appear, tried uninstalling and reinstalling multiple times. If i uninstall Bonus Tools and open Maya the Bonus Tools menu disappears, then reinstall and it's the same old Bonus Tools Menu, still have Curve To Ribbon, can't see SpeedCut anywhere in the menu.
I have a lot of fatal error when I change the options of this tool...
But it's not my main issue, I can't see any icons when I click on "Update Browser Icons". I want to see my shaders library (vray, arnold, maya shaders : no icons). Any way to see them ?
I try to create some swatches/icons manually but It doesn't work.
I have a similar issue :Warning: file: C:/ProgramData/Autodesk/ApplicationPlugins/MayaBonusTools-2016-2019/Contents/scripts-2018/LT_UI.mel line 1838: The -bs/-borderStyle flag is obsolete and should not be used. With a lot of fatal error due to the Browser and I can't see any icons in it.. even after clicking on "Update Browser Icons"Do you find a way to work with the browser ?
