google groups is getting spammed like crazy

Sorry about all the insane spam over the last few weeks. All recent
conversations have been marked as spam, 18 zombie accounts have been
banned, and the group now requires permission for new members (sorry
legit users out there!). The level of spammage was pretty
ridiculous. There was even a post that looked possibly legit (asking
about anti-virus software) with a reply that looked possibly legit
(linking to some presumably malicious site).
