I'm doing some work for Jerry Rushford for his next volume on the history of the church in Washington. We've identified 400 men who preached or at least held a gospel meeting in Washington state prior to 1916 (his cut off date for this book). I've been able to find information on almost all of them, but there are a few who remain elusive, especially if I only have their initials and no first names. If someone could at least provide some names for these initials I could probably find the desired information for them.

L. B. Mitchell - born about 1849, preached in Washington in 1870s.
R. I Elliott - preached in Washington in the mid-1870s.
H. E. Higbee - Have found Henry E. Higbee (son of Jared & Blanche), born in 1884, but too young to be the man who was preaching in Washington in 1889.
Mr. Woodrum - no initials or first name known. Preaching in Washington in 1889.
J. B. Johnson - preached in Washington in 1890.
T. G. Garton - preached in Washington in 1890s.
W. E. Hawkins - visiting preacher from California in 1891. Died in 1906.
N. H. McDonald - preached in Washington in 1890s.
H. F. Fuller - preahced in Washington in 1891.
B. J. Dillon - preached in Washington in 1892. Died in 1931.
D. B. Garrison - lived in Wshington in 1897.
E. A. Pierce - preached in Washington 1895.
H. S. Reed - preached in Washington in 1897.
W. J. Richardson - preached in Washington 1897.
J. O. Davis - preached in Washington 1897-98.
C. M. Lane - preached in Washington 1899.
W. B. Rose - preached in Washington 1899.
E. L. Burch - preached in Washington 1900.
J. M. Kienan - preached in Washington 1900.
B. H. Allen - preached in Washington 1902.
E. J. Crawford - lived in Washington 1902.
J. R. Parker - preached in a meeting in Washington 1903.
W. D. Ingram - preached in Washington 1904. Died 1930.
W. S. Kellems - preached in Washington 1905.
C. M. Hines - lived in Washington 1905.
J. S. Hays - preached in a meeting in 1905.
H. E. Pierce - preached in Washington 1906.
L. J. Keffer - visiting preacher from Canada 1908.
D. N. McDonald - lived in Washington 1909.
F. H. Stringham - preached in Washington 1914.

Bonnie,

At this time, none of the names appears in the Illinois "who's who" that I'm compiling for John Sweeney's years in Illinois (1854-1871). But it is helpful to have your list at hand in case one of the names has a connection to JSS.

I plan to spend most of next week working through Christian Theological Seminary's collection of the American Christian Review looking for John Sweeney and Walter Scott Russell information. The ACR, which became a weekly in 1858, is a complete run for 1858 - 1860 in the CTS collection. A lot of issues to work through. If only the ACR were already indexed!

Do you have access to the published indexes for the MH, Christian Record, Christian Evangelist/Christian and Gospel Advocate?
Nice to hear from you!

Jim

W. D. Ingram is the most famous of the men on your list.  He is on Ligon's Portriature, He was born 7 August 1867 in Van Zandt County, Texas and he died on 6 May 1930 living in Brownsboro, Texas.  You will find biographical information on his life in the following:  1) Gospel Preachers Who Blazed the Trail; 2) Christian Leader of 4 July 1899 at page 5; and 3) Gospel Advocate (1930): page 831.

L. J. Keffer is Lemuel James Keffer born in July of 1883 in Ontario Canada.  He is in Preacher's of Today, Volume 1.

All the best,

Terry
