Frank,
There has been no posting to that group (
research-for-Stone...@googlegroups.com) since you joined. That type of group (it's a Google group) is not conducive to carrying on discussions like a listserv is. Terry Gardner, for example, sent me an email asking about how the group worked and I quite frankly couldn't describe how the group worked. I have tweaked the settings as best I know how, so that others in the group would be comfortable giving posting a try, but no one else has posted anything or even replied to my request to "reply" to a test post to see if they were even seeing the test message.
I have thought about paying a monthly fee to one of the sites that host listserv type mailing lists, but at this point I haven't gone ahead with that option. The Stone-Campbell list, as you said, is a disappointment. When I rejoined a few months ago, like you, I was hoping to be able to carry on research related conversations and connect with people who are actively conducting research.
Your post about the microfilm from Connecticut was a breath of fresh air. I live in Springfield, Illinois, and the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library here has thousands of Illinois newspapers microfilmed and available via inter-library loan as well. I hesitate to mention that to the S-C simply because it would get lost in all the chatter.
Later today I will post a message to the research group to see if any one is tuned in. Thanks for your note.
Jim

Hi, Jim.
About a month ago, I signed up as a member of an S-C discussion group that you had started. I appreciate your doing that; but since I joined I have backslidden and would now like to take another run at it. I have to say that the listserv to which you and I subscribe is a disappointment to me because it doesn’t really carry out its mission (a familiar theme?). For me, the listserv has been much more helpful along the line of putting me in contact with S-C historians to whom I can write, like I’m doing now.
Anyway, if you would, please send me an info or site link so that I can act like a member of the group you have begun. Thanks.
Yours always in Christ,
Frank Bellizzi
