Barton is not in the name authority.  However, the name authority was intended primarily be an authority for 20th Century preachers of the Churches of Christ (it has expanded some since I began).  Almost all of the Octographic Review is extant and located her in Indianapolis at Christian Theological Seminary under the care of Don Haymes.  It has also been filmed.

The Blue Grass Blade, Saturday, February 20, 1892 has a verbatim article written by Barton S. Gardner of San Jose, California. The article appeared in The Octographic Review. No date for the original article is given, but its title is "Rebuking Practical Infidelity." The article mentions J. S. Sweeney and the Paris congregation.

I wanted to bring the article to your attention in case The Octographic Review from which this article was taken is not extant. The writer also shares your surname. Do you have anything in name authority file on him?
