I tried all this morning to get a backup of my phone. It turns out that you can export your contacts and then move the exported file to a PC over USB -- and then back to the phone to import as a restore. But it's not so easy to move SMS messages, apps, photos and other stuff you need to backup because the SMS app (for example) does not have an import/export feature. I was trying to avoid using third party software but failed at that attempt. It's probably part of the vast mobile phone conspiracy Anyway, I ended up using MobileGo [OFFICIAL] Wondershare MobileGo: Super Mobile Toolbox. You can backup your phone with the 14-day trial version, but have to pay for the restore feature. I just used the trial version so far and got apparently good backups (the process completed without error) on my PC (no cloud). There are a few other features that are pretty cool as well. And it claims to work with any android or IOS phone. Might be worth a shot.

I've had my Droid Razr M for a few years, and Backup Assistant Plus has been regularly doing its thing. I just assumed my contacts were getting backed up, too. Until today, when I went to Verizon Cloud online and found that there were no contacts for my account. So I went to Settings, then Backup Assistant Plus, and clicked "Sync Now." It said the backup was successful, but that 0 contacts were backed up. Then I opened Backup Assistant Plus on my phone, and in the list of content pending for backup, it says "You have no contacts on your device and Cloud." What?
I am using the stock contacts app that came with the phone, and I have a couple hundred contacts. I thought maybe I messed up a setting sometime in the last few years, but the contacts backup appears never to have worked, since there are zero contacts in my Cloud.
If you have a Google Account on the phone then your contacts are stored there. For Verizon to backup contacts it needs all the contacts to be stored under Phone and not Google. If you really want to use Verizon instead of Google for contact back ups, you will have to go to your contacts, tap menu and choose Contacts to Display and choose Google. Then you will have to export as csv file. Then, go back to contacts and choose Phone as the contacts to display and import the csv file. You can also export the google contacts from your Gmail on a PC browser and then save that file to the PC and load onto the phone in Downloads folder then go back to contacts screen and import.
Having the same exact problem with my GS6. I also learned (the hard way) that Backup Assistant was not backing up the contacts on my old GS4. Fortunately, they were all backed up in my Google acct. Cloud backs up my photos and music just fine, but not contacts. Like jessicafm, I'm using the stock Samsung Contacts app and I've gone through the same steps she has.
Import/Export: I opened the People app, selected "Contacts to display" from the menu, and selected Google, at which point it showed me all my contacts. I selected "Import/export" from the menu, then "Export to storage." When the export was complete, I went back to "Contacts to display" and selected Backup Assistant Plus (Phone), at which point it showed no contacts. I selected "Import/export" from the menu, then "Import from storage," and all my contacts appeared.
Backup: From my home screen, I went to Settings-->Backup Assistant Plus-->Sync Now, and it backed up 381 contacts. However, when I logged into Verizon from my PC, they still didn't show up. So back on my phone, I viewed all my apps, opened Cloud, selected "Back Up All Now" from the dropdown menu, and then it showed that there were 381 contacts instead of "you have no contacts." This time when I went back to my PC, I was able to see them all online.
I was just told about Verizon Cloud a week ago when I talked to a representative about buying a new phone. My current phone is full of pictures and videos. He told me to backup everything to the cloud so I could easily install everything on to my new phone. He said that it would take a while for the backup. This afternoon it will be a week and it's still not showing as being done. Has anyone else had this problem and if so how did you deal with it? I want to activate my new phone but I can't until the backup is done. Thanks
Back up your files and photos to a PC then save to whatever service you want. Or save to PC and move to new phone. You can also backup using a much better and reliable service with fewer limitations and a lot less cost (normally free) like MS OneDrive or Google Drive or Dropbox. Verizon cloud is a bit unstable, will hang up, stutter and pause, save some, delete some, take forever, and is generally to be avoided.
Losing your phone is never fun. Especially, when personal content may be lost. If you installed and set up the Verizon Cloud to auto back up the photos on your device, then photos will be saved to the cloud. Unfortunatley, the Verizon Cloud is not set up on the device on it's own. If there was no application set to backup personal content on the device, I apologize there is not a way to retreive lost photos.
Thank You,

Backup to the "cloud" - either Google or Verizon or whatever is only automatic if you have set it up with your Google or Verizon account. If you log onto your Google account, Google +, Photos, are they there?
Google backups are linked to your Google account, which you can use and access from any computer, anywhere, and any Android phone/tablet/device. Your contacts, email, hangouts, photos, etc are all linkled to your Google account.
Verizon cloud stores all your PHONE information, (contacts, photos, etc) stored on the device, and is available as long as you have a Verizon account. It's more limited than a Google +/Google Drive account, and in practice and actual use, I've found it to be a bit clunky, and glitchy at times. I do usae it to backup my phone contacts, but not for photos or documents.
Windows One Drive is in the same category, only focused on Windows devices; I have a Windows computer and a live.com account; I also have a Google Drive and Google + account. They all serve generally the same purpose, and redundancy is good!
My phone slid off of an unbalanced table and now the screen is completely black. I cannot access any thing on my phone through the touch screen and while waiting for the replacement to arrive I was trying to attempt backing up what is on there from current months after clearing my cloud space. Is there a way to initiate a back up through my Verizon account via PC/computer?
2) Accessing Cloud from a PC -> You can log in to your Cloud via Web Browser using your My Verizon information at: , or download the Desktop App and use it to sync & Backup from your PC. The Desktop App , while free, is only available for Premium Accounts, and it does not sync Contacts (the Free Cloud *only* syncs contacts). NOTE: This does not initiate a Cloud backup *from your phone*, but only between the PC and the Cloud Storage repository.
To sync/copy your contacts to the My Cloud would require the use of a third party app that has the capability to sync or copy the contacts to an NAS device (either locally or remotely). Check the Android/Google store for such an app if it exists. Or log into the Gmail account and export the contact list and save it to your My Cloud.
As previously indicated one can backup their Contacts which their Android device syncs to their Google Gmail account by logging into their Gmail account, then select Contacts > More > Export then follow the on screen directions. Once the file is exported one can copy the exported file to their My Cloud or any other location for backup.
As you said , to backup phone data , the first thing we need to do is move data to computer from Android phone,
The Phone To Phone transfer tool can help you to transfer contacts and backup contacts to computer ,
As report goes , we have 2 way to backup contacts from Android phone ,
Way 1 : We can use backup tool to directly backup contacts on computer ,
Way 2 : We can transfer Android contacts to computer , then back up contacts to computer ,
to be honest, the second solution will be more safe ,
The way to transfer contacts from Android phone to computer, you can use Android data assistant tool, and then you can quickly move the contacts to your computer, after few steps, you can easily backup all the contacts on computer.
I woke up the other morning and all of my Verizon Mesage+ conversations were completely gone. I tried restoring them (Message+, Menu, Settings, Account, Restore Messages), but the only option that gives me is 'restore from SD card' and clicking on that just gives me a blank screen. When I go in my Verizon Cloud, it says I have 16,773 messages backed up, but I can't seem to access any of them. When I tap 'view messages', it just opens my empty Message+ app. I tried looking under 'apps using cloud', thinking maybe Message+ just needed permission to access my cloud to restore messages, and it says I haven't given any apps permission to use my Cloud, but I haven't been able to find a way to give an app permission. I have a Motorola Droid Turbo, first gen.
