Hey guys,

I understand there's no backup system currently in place, but is
currently being worked on. In the meantime, is there a way of manually
backing up the entire Resara/Samba4/Kerberos/etc. configuration while
we wait? Has anyone else been successful in being able to backup and
restore all files required, otherwise is there a list of all files
created, edited or otherwise maintained by the server? I tried to work
it out myself, but I can't seem to work out where all the config files
are being stashed (the first couple of times setting up the server I
made a couple of silly mistakes that resulted in a reinstall of the
ENTIRE system being the only recovery option!).

At the moment my backup solution is to bring down the domain
controller, take a hard drive image, and restart the server, but I'd
prefer a solution that doesn't require backing up the entire OS or
require the server to be down during the backup process.

Cheers

Samba4 has a script for this already. It uses tdbbackup to take a copy
of the database while the server is in full production. While it wont
backup everything its a good start for the sensitive Samba4 stuff. As
for the rest, i personally love backuppc, much because of its pooling
of files. The only thing that normally demands that services is down
before backups are databases that are written all the time. Normal
Linux services usually take running backups without problems.

The script can be found here:

//cheers!
