The first 5 games of the series, as well as the classic Windows era, are currently either unavailable to purchase, or extremely difficult to come by. Due to this, and the fact that the NEC PC-98 and its software is considered abandonware, it is generally seen as a necessary evil to pirate and emulate the PC-98 games. Although, per subreddit rules, I nor anybody else in the comments will not provide download links. The classic Windows era (EoSD through StB) are currently difficult to come by through online ordering, as all J-List listings for those games seem to not exist, and Amazon is experiencing delayed shipping times due to COVID-19. In addition, since ZUN has lost all source code for games pre-MoF, the likelihood of these games receiving a modern Steam rerelease are very slim. However, limited copies are still sold across anime and doujin markets in Japan, so these games are not considered abandonware as of time of writing.
My base is normal mode. Used easy mode at the very beginning when I was getting acquainted with the controls (which did take me a while haha). I keep hearing a lot of stories about easy mode being damaging, ruining technique encouraging bad habits and the lot and I understand there are two approaches to getting good at touhou (e.g. ease in with easy mode and slow and comfortable learning curve, or dive in aggressively straight up with hard mode).
Dear god... I need to calm down... But seriously... This is the only touhou game that really makes me frustrated... It all comes down to the randomness of UFOs (but I think they have preset travel patterns). Many times my eyes hurt just because I cannot understand what's going on on the screen, stage 4 being the worst offender, followed by stage 5. It's also the only Touhou game where I actually feel unfairly punished, in all the other ones I always recognized that it was just me doing something dumb or risky, and I accepted it.
I think we can all agree that the Watatsuki sister are two of the most powerful being in touhouverse, hell, it is even stated that they could beat yukari in a fight and ever since I read that, i've been wondering which character could beat the watatsuki sister and so I ask you, Reddit, if you have any idea because ummmm... other's opinion are important?
I have returned to Discord lately, but to my shock, I cannot find any of the Touhou-related servers that I've known before (the Touhou server that used to be featured on the sidebar of this subreddit, the Touhou Fanworks n' Chill server, and the Touhou GameDev server).
I hear multiple different things. They're building level, city level, Universal, beyond. Etc etc. So I am a little curious to find how just how strong they actually are. Like...at full power, no spell cards, nothing. Their max potential. And where else to ask but a reddit dedicated to the series?
