Anyone facing any issues after combining the quick share and the nearby share on Samsung devices? Before this update, I used nearby share on my Galaxy S23 to my non Samsung phones of my friends. But after combining these two, this particular feature doesn't seem to work no matter what. I can not get it to send to nearby share devices. It does show up in the settings but when attempted to send a file, it fails.
You're absolutely right guys. The last update of QuickShare, QS Agent and QS Connectivity ruined everything . The version before the update works PERFECT and much BETTER. I had to return back to the version before the update via sharing the three Apps from one of my friends who hasn't made the update yet !!! and recommended him and almost everyone I know who owns Samsung device NOT to update and keep it that old way. The new update makes it more complicated to connect between devices even those sharing the same Samsung Account !!! Even the devices can't detect each other as before and almost at all !!! Why Samsung are you doing this to us Why ?!!! Bring back the old version just before the update in which everything was working PERFECTLY !!
Quickshare on my Samsung s24 ultra isn't working and can't not share anything between my other Samsung devices such as my s22 ultra or my Galaxy Tab s8 ultra. I have tried everything. Not sure what else to try. Quickshare worked with my S23 ultra to my s22 ultra and vice versa but not my Tab s8 ultra. Same settings to everyone, both devices in the same wifi not that it should matter because the Bluetooth is always on. Samsung please let me know what is going on.
Transferring files between devices can take much time and energy, but Samsung Electronics has simplified the file sharing process. For Galaxy users looking to share photos, videos and various files with other Galaxy devices, smartphones or PCs, the Quick Share feature, introduced in 2020, is streamlining file transferring functionality.
When meeting friends after not seeing them for a long time, capturing memories of your time spent together is essential. However, if the Gallery app on your smartphone fills up with photos while spending quality time with friends, there is no need to worry. To avoid the hassle of uploading all the photos to a messaging app or email and downloading them again, Quick Share provides simple file transfer in a matter of seconds.
The biggest advantage of Quick Share is that users can quickly share photos with nearby Galaxy devices in just a few taps regardless of the number and size of the files. With a Wi-Fi or Bluetooth connection, users can send files to up to eight people at a time.1
Receiving files through Quick Share is simple, from set up to sending and receiving. In order to use Quick Share, swipe down from the top of the screen of your Galaxy device and tap on the Quick Share icon from Quick Settings.
Select a picture or video in the Gallery app or a file in a folder, and then click the Share icon. After pressing the Quick Share icon in the pop-up window, available Galaxy devices that can accept shared files appear.
Galaxy devices that can accept files are listed according to sharing preferences that the user has set in advance. When the other Galaxy device accepts the file transfer, the file is sent immediately. These shared files can be immediately found in the Quick Share folder created in the Gallery app without a separate download process.
When using Quick Share with non-Galaxy users, a Galaxy user can select the file they want to share via Quick Share and choose from the following options: Copy link, Share in an app and Share using QR code. If the user chooses to share the file using a QR code, the recipient can simply copy or scan the code and receive the file instantly on their smartphone or device. Additionally, files uploaded to the Samsung Cloud can be shared with others as well.
If Share in an app is selected, the link can be sent via a messenger right away, making it an effective way to share files to multiple people at once in a group chatroom. Additionally, users can send original photos and videos in high quality without worrying about deteriorated image quality due to file compression.
Sharing files between different types of Galaxy devices is also easy and frictionless. To send a file from your Galaxy smartphone to your Galaxy Book, all you need to do is activate the Quick Share feature on both devices before selecting the files and recipient using Quick Share.
Unlike Quick Share, which uses Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connections, Private Share supports file encryption by utilizing blockchain. Users can send a variety of files through Private Share, including images, video, audio and documents. Twenty files of up to 200MB in total can be sent at once to a designated recipient using a phone number and identification number.
Additionally, the sender can check whether the recipient has received files as well as if and when they have been opened them. To ensure confidentiality, secure files cannot be downloaded, and screenshots cannot be taken, preventing files from being shared with parties that do not have access.
I decided to upgrade my laptop to a Samsung Galaxy Book 360 because I really wanted better integration between my phone and laptop. Quick Share worked well at first but it suddenly stopped, for no reason that I could tell. After many attempts, I can now send files from my laptop to my phone but every time I try and send a file from my phone to my laptop it just says "failed" with no other explanation or error code. Quick share is turned on on both devices and both are set to share "everyone". Please help!
As of 11-23-2021 I'm having the same identical issue. I have spend hours with Samsung's support in their chat and have found no solution. "Quick Share worked well at first but it suddenly stopped, for no reason that I could tell. After many attempts, I can now send files from my laptop to my phone but every time I try and send a file from my phone to my laptop it just says "failed" with no other explanation or error code."
Try resetting the network settings on your phone. It solved the issue for me, although other people here have said that it's not a permanent fix and it's annoying because you have to log back into your wifi and pair your Bluetooth devices again. But I'm a few days in and it's working well so far. Hopefully, a more permanent fix will come in a future update.
I was facing the same issue with my galaxy book pro 360. The only fix I found that worked for me was to pair my phone with the galaxy book using Bluetooth. Then quick share works. However on pairing with Bluetooth, the copy and paste feature between devices does not work with my tab s7+ for some reason. But if you just want quick share then it now works between all my devices.
UPDATE on January 27, 2023: I downloaded the most recent Samsung update and I have successfully transferred a photo to and from my phone/laptop. I'm hoping this is the solution we have been waiting for.
There are a couple of ways you can turn off Samsung Quick Share. You can find the Quick Share icon in the quick access menu you see when you drag down on the home screen, which is two arrows pointing in opposite directions. You can tap on it to disable it. Alternatively, you can go to Settings > Connected devices > Quick Share and toggle the Quick Share button to the off position.
Samsung Quick Share is Samsung's proprietary file transfer tool, allowing users to send and receive large files quickly via a direct Wi-Fi link. It can be found among the sharing options of a file, photo, or video on any recent Samsung device.
Wi-Fi Direct allows two devices to establish a direct Wi-Fi connection without the need for an intermediate access point, such as a router. It creates a temporary ad-hoc network between the sender and the receiver, with the sending device acting as a Wi-Fi hotspot. The connection is automatically terminated once the file transfer is complete or if the devices are taken out of range of each other. Transfer speeds can be as much as 200MB/s.
Nearby Share and Samsung Quick Share are more similar than they are different. Essentially, Samsung Quick Share is the Samsung-optimized version of the more ubiquitous Nearby Share that is found on all Android devices. They are both file-sharing features available on mobile devices, providing users with convenient ways to share photos, videos, files, and links wirelessly. They both use Bluetooth Low Energy and Wi-Fi Direct to find nearby devices and transfer files, but there are differences to consider.
Quick Share and Nearby Share use Bluetooth to find nearby devices, then Wi-Fi for transfers. While that means speeds are similar, Quick Share is generally faster than Nearby Share as it uses a more efficient protocol to transfer files.
Quick Share allows you to share files with up to five devices simultaneously, while Nearby Share is limited to just one device at a time. Which is better for daily capacity to share depends on the size of the files. This is because Quick Share also has a file transfer limit of 1GB per file and 5GB per day, while Nearby Share allows for the transfer of up to 500 files per day without a size limit.
