Episode19 marked the start of a new chapter as realisation dawned on Anmol and events came full circle. It was really an episode that had some great moments and can be enjoyed more than once.

As Anmol and the rest of us saw a show reel of why Mohid was the perfect man, as evidenced by their various encounters that whizzed by as Anmol closed her eyes, yeh waqaiye Muhabbat hai was the only obvious conclusion for us all. She found her man and we found another dreamy TV hero! Win Win!

Excellent direction by Nadeem Baig, sizzling chemistry between Humayun Saeed and Mehwish Hayat coupled with the fact that they are both easy on the eyes; A great supporting cast and last but not the least, a great story by Faiza Iftikhar who has ensured that fantastic dialogues pop up in every episode; have all come together and made DilLagi an absolute joy to watch.

Udaari is a drama that I struggle to find words to praise because it pulls straight at my heart. It is harder to talk about things that move you deeply, on many levels. Udaari is one of the best dramas of recent times and it will no doubt prove to be a game changer not only because of the subject that it has been brave enough to tackle; but also in respect of how sensitively and tastefully it has tackled a taboo topic.

The heavy message of awareness has been presented in a very subtle way through well thought out characters and their everyday struggles. There is nothing vulgar or inappropriate about Udaari. Yes, it points to how children are tricked when they are targeted by abusers and thereby hints at the abuse, but that is the reality of the situation.

She confessed her failings in front of her mother, finally realizing that Sheeda was her only savior. Meera had chosen a man over her family, over her heritage and even over her mother- she had wanted to escape from everything. Heartbreak had forced her to come to the realization that she had been selfish when in reality her identity and her family is all that she can hold onto.

How women suffer in every role of life sometimes. As a young woman, Meera is shown dealing with heartbreak , while Sheeda suffers in her own way, as a mother who can see that her daughter was treated unfairly.

Meanwhile Anmol blurted out her evil plans in-front of her mother by confessing that she wanted Mohid to hate her with the same vengeance with which she hated him. This statement was the last straw as Anmol was turned out and told by her mother not to return. Her susral was her home now and they would visit her there, if they needed to. Not having a place to fall back on, may make the headstrong Anmol see reason.

Mohid returns to discover that Anmol had returned but they were still at daggers drawn. He readily admits defeat, saying that he would reunite Anmol with Fareed if she loved him and if that would make her joy complete. As Anmol was left stumped for words, Mohid clean bowled the audience for a six, by proving to be no less of a Shahrukh Khan of the small screen.

[ Interesting how Anmol referred to them being on a train together (albeit headed towards a different destination) and this famous SRK movie dialogue is such a perfect fit in this situation?][ Chamatkar hogaya in true bollywood lingo]

After encouragement from his father in law, Raza asks Mehrbano to marry him. It is clear that Mehr bano heroworships him, but his offer of marriage shocks her. She feels that her usual bad luck at the hands of destiny will ruin everything, but Raza tells her that this time around, things would be different.

The biggest dilemma in this drama is that despite its weaknesses, almost every male hero is interesting. From Umer to Hassan to Raza; we are not short of heroes to root for as each emerges on the horizon, equally promising in our eyes as the knight in shining armour, for our troubled princess. We are as confused as Mehrbano and need time to make a decision in this hero love triangle!

As Hassan takes Fari to Dr Raza, he understands the connection with Mehr bano while taking the patient details. Thereafter he politely refuses to take Fari on as a patient and suggests that they go elsewhere; he mentions that Fari may be ailing from acute guilt.

In a nutshell, this drama is quite watchable at the moment. Faryal Mehmood looks good on many occasions though the screaming can get a bit deafening at times. Acting wise, all four of the main leads are doing a good job.

As an end note, I will state that good quality television productions automatically result in getting viewers. Ratings are just a number after all- it is the quality of the production which ensures that it stands out. Whichever drama forces you to pause your life and watch it, becomes a part of your weekly drama!

If you are looking for a romance, albeit a tad on the filmi side, look no further than Dillagi! I whizzed through the first five episodes of this drama last week and believe me, they were absolutely top notch!

In terms of performance, Humayun Saeed could romance a pole- he is absolutely brilliant as the romantic hero . It helps that he is well supported by Mehwish Hayat who is a vision every time she is on screen and the chemistry between them is enough to deal with the load shedding problem courtesy of his sidekick Dastageer cutting the electric supply.

Speaking of Dastageer, what a treat it is, when supporting characters are written with as much attention to detail as the main characters. Everytime Imran Ashraf is on screen, it lights up with his quirky comments. A great casting choice and performance.

No text or call to the fretting mom and sister who were to hear of the nuptials from the new inlaws. The filmi driving across the city in search of our missing heroine by our hero hiralal , was put to an end when unka piya apnay ghar aya.

The best scene this week was between Sabah Hameed and Uzma Hassan as they played tug of war with words with Mohid acting as the referee.Brilliant performances which made me thoroughly enjoy this scene as well as the last scene of this episode. The reason why I enjoyed the latter does not warrant an explanation. ?

The first two episodes set the scene of the drama introducing us to the characters. The visuals caught by Mohommad Ehteshamuddin create a very vivid picture of village life- both the natural beauty of their simple surroundings as well as the difficulties associated with their everyday struggles.

After the wedding incident, Sheedan fussed over her daughter, but Meeran exploded with her true feelings and was reprimanded. This was a beautiful scene and a lot was said about the dignity in hard work through the words of Sheedan. Bushra Ansari was made for this role and totally owns every dialogue as if it was written for her.

One year down the line, Manu is expecting her first child and returns home for her confinement. Salahuddin and her come face to face as he is invited over with his parents and while it is clear that the calm Salahuddin of before , is now brimming with emotion for Manu; the latter moves out of the scope of his vision highlighting her resentment which has overtime turned into anger.

Salahuddin sends presents to celebrate the new birth through his sister and Manu rejects all the gifts. She has been taught the lesson of severing all ties and moving on, by the man she was ready to leave everyone for. Salahuddin on the other hand, has realized that he cannot let go of Manu, despite what he thought before and therefore no slight from her is taken to heart.

Salahuddin is also shown to be a modern man, who despite his conservative background, has the modern and correct concept of love; that you love a woman with all her faults or scars inflicted at the hands of life. His love for Manu despite his initial weakness, has remained steadfast and unchanged, while she adopts various roles of a wife to a mother. For once a man is demonstrating the kind of devotion usually credited to a woman.

I put off watching the episode of their marriage for a week. It was most unsavory when I finally watched their union . In the meantime, Mehrbano found herself screaming her innocence on top of her lungs, as she landed in a mental institute.

In episode 23, Fariha found herself unable to enjoy the spoils of her war by constant and rather unpleasant visions of the price of this victory. In the meantime, Mehrbano seemed to be rescued from her plight from yet another man- the doctor.

The writers of this drama are brainwashing us to believe that all men are innocent and good, until led astray by women, who are the epitome of evil! I might hate myself for being a woman if I buy into this nonsense; but so far sanity prevails.

As Hassan tries to put Mehrbano in the past and move on, the fact that Fariha is haunted by her actions will stand in the way of their marital bliss. My question is even if Hassan realizes his mistake, after all that has transpired, should Mehrbano forgive him and start over? I think not.

It was a long time back, but I can still recall watching this movie, Dillagi on a laidback Saturday afternoon. It was one of those accidental happy discoveries. There was ever-romantic Dharmendra, the gorgeous Hema Malini, and lot of wooing by the former of the latter in a subtle manner and sprinkled with humor. One funny background score that played every time Dharmendra approached Hema tickled me a lot, and is encrypted together with the movie memory.

During lockdown, I watched and savored it yet again. This time though I realized that this movie was more than a light-hearted romance between a man and a woman. The director, Mr. Basu Chatterjee definitely had a wider perspective to it in telling the story. Since I saw the movie with this new realization, I will be writing some details of the movie hence spoiler alert.

Like the movie looks back at literature in Sanskrit that is indulging in explicit romance sagas, I look back at this movie which tells how artisans made efforts to raise tolerance of society towards liberality. Such movies need to be remade today as we have even more Fulrenus who want to police the society with their ideas of right and wrong.
