Work Model:
- 40-hour workweek (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM ET, Monday–Friday, excluding State holidays)
- Occasional extended hours may be required to meet project objectives
- Primarily remote work
- Onsite presence required at 110 State Street, Albany, NY at least one week per calendar year (as directed)
- Reports to Manager of Data Analytics & First New York (or designee)
- Equipment provided by OSC
About the Role:
The Consultant will support the Division of the Chief Information Officer, working with Data Analytics & First New York teams to build and enhance the data analytics environment, including infrastructure, tools, data warehousing, business intelligence, and data exchange systems.
Statement of Work / Responsibilities:
- Review and analyze existing ETL processes and external data sources to design and architect data systems
- Assist in implementing data analytics architecture supporting structured and unstructured data
- Support implementation and migration of ETL environments, including fact and dimensional models
- Assist in Tableau / Oracle BI dashboard design based on business requirements
- Develop and support ETL processes for newly acquired data sources
- Provide ongoing data analytics development and support services
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related IT field (Master’s/Doctorate acceptable substitute)
- 4+ years developing and maintaining data interchange systems (flat files, databases, XML)
- 4+ years working with ETL tools
- 4+ years of data modeling experience
- 4+ years developing ETL environments for data analytics
- 4+ years of experience with SQL
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience scripting in Python
- Experience with Tableau Server Administration (1+ year)
- Experience in data validation, troubleshooting, and gathering business requirements
- Academic or professional experience in statistics
- Experience with SQL / PL-SQL database development
- Experience building ETL environments supporting Tableau visualizations
- Experience supporting data analytics programs for government entities
This is a long-term role focused on data analytics, ETL development, and data warehouse architecture within a government environment. If you have strong ETL and data modeling experience and are comfortable working in structured, large-scale data environments, this is worth exploring.
