About the Role:

This role supports USAC’s portfolio of Appian-based enterprise applications, focusing on database administration, performance tuning, query optimization, and production support in a DevSecOps and FISMA-compliant environment. You’ll help support mission-critical systems across modernization, enhancement, and operational initiatives.

Scope of the Project:

The focus is on supporting database operations, performance optimization, Appian-integrated data stores, and production environments, while contributing to modernization, cloud operations, and ongoing application support efforts.

Daily Duties / Responsibilities:

• Administer and maintain MariaDB / MySQL database environments
• Perform database performance tuning and indexing optimization
• Develop and optimize stored procedures and SQL queries
• Support Appian Data Stores and Appian-integrated databases
• Troubleshoot and resolve database performance and operational issues
• Support database modernization and enhancement initiatives
• Collaborate with development teams in Agile / DevSecOps environments
• Support production operations, maintenance, and continuous improvement
• Ensure database environments align with security and compliance requirements

Required Skills (Ranked):

• 10+ years of DBA experience
• Strong expertise in MariaDB / MySQL administration
• Strong experience with stored procedures and database performance tuning
• Expertise in query optimization and indexing strategies
• Experience supporting Appian Data Stores and Appian-integrated databases
• Experience working in Agile / DevSecOps environments

Preferred Skills:

• SQL Server exposure (nice to have)
• Experience supporting FISMA-compliant enterprise environments
• Experience with Appian Cloud platform environments

Environment and Tools:

• MariaDB / MySQL
• SQL Server (nice to have)
• Appian Data Stores
• DevSecOps / Agile Delivery Model
• Enterprise Database Performance Monitoring Tools

Additional Skills:

• Strong troubleshooting and performance optimization capability
• Ability to support enterprise production environments
• Strong communication and collaboration with development teams
• Ability to work within structured compliance-driven environments

This is not a generic DBA role you’re expected to optimize enterprise databases supporting Appian systems, performance tuning, and production reliability. If someone only has operational DBA experience without performance optimization and Appian-related support, they’ll struggle here.
