Background:
MoDOT is currently using Dell Unity, ExaGrid (backup target) and Brocade switches for its internal storage solutions.  MoDOT also has cloud storage in Azure and WASABI for secondary backups along with a second Dell Unity at our DR location for replication.
Provide day-to-day support and administration of the Missouri Department of Transportation’s (MoDOT) SAN storage and fabric environment, as defined by MoDOT and availability of funds.
This is an urgent, business critical, PAQ to provide coverage for the area of SAN storage and SAN fabric, related to day-to-day support and administration activities.  
 
Requirements/Tasks

• Provide expertise and administration in the area of Storage and Fabric. This includes guidance in best practices, research into options and potential solutions, and professional presentation as requested.
• Effective oral and written communication with MoDOT staff.
• Create documentation and supporting procedures for all key related systems and processes directly impacting storage and fabric.
• Transfer key knowledge and educate staff in applicable areas.

Expected duties to include, but not be limited to, the following:

•  Manage LUN’s, NAS, Fabric switches and connections to the storage arrays on the Production and Test/Development environments
•  Provision new LUN’s as requested, and reclaim storage when applicable
•  Work with the virtualization team and fine tune storage configurations to get the best performance/resource utilization
•  Detection of SAN issues, monitoring and ownership of standards and requirements
•  Verify, create and remove NTFS permissions as requested
•  Participate in capacity planning for the infrastructure
•  Provide tools and procedures for resources provisioning
•  Document processes and procedures
•  Propose storage provisioning solutions to be analyzed and/or implemented
•  Evaluate and apply version updates of firmware and software to controllers and arrays
•  Develop and implement test plans to verify installation, upgrades or repairs, including back-out plans
•  Daily management of Veeam Backup and Replication jobs, including Office 365
•  Create new backup jobs as required to maintain industry standard of 3-2-1 retention
•  Outstanding communication skills
•  Excellent troubleshooting skills
•  Ability to provide after-hours support occasionally as needed
•  Excellent organizational and time management skills
•  Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team
•  Initiative to research and resolve problems

Minimum skillsets required:

•  5+ years experience with SAN, NAS and Fabric administration and support
•  Working experience with Dell Unity administration (CloudIQ) and support
•  Basic understanding of vSphere and Horizon environments
•  Strong focus on storage capacity planning and performance tools

Objectives

•  Provide day-to-day support and administration of MoDOT’s Storage environments
•  Analyze MoDOT’s current storage environment and provide feedback/recommendations
•  Work with technologist to clean/organize current environment
