Job Title: Senior Sybase Database Administrator Engineer

Location: Reston, VA (Primary) | Plano, TX (Secondary)
Work Model: Hybrid (3 days onsite / 2 days remote)
Requirement: Must be local to Reston, VA or Plano, TX
Additional: Must have an older LinkedIn profile (established, active professional)

Key Responsibilities:

• Database Administration & Support:

  • Provide expert-level administration for Sybase ASE databases.

  • Manage High Availability (HA), replication, performance tuning, and production support.

• Cloud Migration & Modernization:

  • Lead Sybase upgrades and migrations to AWS and Linux-based environments.

  • Optimize configurations for scalability, resilience, and cost efficiency.

• Automation Development:

  • Create Unix Shell and Python scripts to automate key DBA functions (backups, monitoring, health checks, configuration).

• Security & Compliance:

  • Implement Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) and data encryption policies.

  • Ensure compliance with enterprise and regulatory standards.

• Technical Consulting:

  • Partner with application and infrastructure teams to design efficient database solutions.

  • Act as a subject matter expert (SME) for Sybase ASE and AWS migration efforts.

• Troubleshooting & Performance Optimization:

  • Perform deep-dive diagnostics and root cause analysis for complex database issues.

  • Ensure long-term stability and performance tuning of critical systems.
