McLean VA – 100% onsite role
Pay Rate: $65/hr + benefits
Role Overview
- Position: Java or Python Developer (contractor role; potential contract-to-hire)
- Location: Fully onsite, 5 days a week
- Duration: 6-month potential contract-to hire role
- Restrictions: US Citizen, Green Card only.
- Interview: Will require in person interview – 1 90 minute technical interview for 7/14 or 7/15
Ideal Candidate Profile
- 5+ years of strong development experience in Java, Python, or both
- Must have strong mathematical aptitude and experience with data streaming platforms
- Familiarity with machine learning frameworks like NumPy and Pandas
- Spring Boot (Java) and Flask (Python) experience required
- Must be able to code comfortably in Python or Java, with preference toward aptitude and ability to learn quickly
- Preference: Someone strong in either Java or Python is acceptable if they demonstrate strong numerical and problem-solving skills
Interview & Vetting Details
- Format: One 90-minute technical interview (coding + numerical problem-solving)
- Programming assessment will involve numerical/data-focused problem-solving; screen share required with all windows visible
- Strong emphasis on math aptitude, data structures, and clean, efficient coding

Project Context
The project focuses on market trading and pricing prediction. It collects data
from sources like Bloomberg and trading exchanges, then uses machine learning
algorithms trained nightly (on 5-day trading data) to predict realistic price
spreads.
- The front-end service is built in Java to integrate with enterprise tech/APIs
- The back-end machine learning models are in Python, training data daily and interfacing with Java services
- This project provides a valuable opportunity for candidates interested in real-world applications of ML in trading

- Open to candidates who are very strong in either Python or Java
- Priority is given to analytical/mathematical strength, then technical stack
- Willing to train someone strong in one language who shows potential to pick up the other
- No hard preference for language – the goal is quality, aptitude, and adaptability
- Must be able to demonstrate strong, independent problem-solving on video (cheating will be flagged immediately)
