Job Title: ETL Architect

Location : Chicago, IL (Onsite)

Pharmaceutical or life sciences or Healthcare domain

We are seeking an experienced Onsite Lead to manage and drive end-to-end ETL Data Migration activities. The role involves coordinating with business stakeholders, understanding data requirements, performing detailed data field mapping, and overseeing data extraction, transformation, and migration workflows using PL/SQL and other ETL tools. The candidate will serve as a key point of contact between onsite client teams and the offshore delivery team.

Key Responsibilities

Client & Stakeholder Management

  • Act as the primary onsite contact for the pharma client, ensuring clear communication and expectation alignment.
  • Gather business requirements related to data migration, validation, and transformation.
  • Communicate status, risks, and issues to client leadership and internal project managers.
  • Facilitate onsite–offshore coordination, sprint planning, and daily updates.

Data Migration & ETL Leadership

  • Lead the full lifecycle of ETL Data Migration projects, including scoping, planning, execution, and validation.
  • Perform detailed data field mapping between legacy systems and target systems, ensuring functional and regulatory compliance.
  • Oversee extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) activities using PL/SQL scripts and/or ETL tools.
  • Conduct impact analysis for data changes and transformations.

Data Quality & Validation

  • Define and execute data validation, reconciliation, and verification processes.
  • Work with QA teams to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and alignment with pharma domain standards.
  • Troubleshoot migration issues, manage defect resolution, and provide technical guidance.

Technical Contribution

  • Write, review, and optimize PL/SQL queries, procedures, packages, and scripts for data migration.
  • Support ETL design, performance tuning, and automation of repetitive tasks.
  • Collaborate with data architects to ensure migration solutions adhere to architectural frameworks.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Create and maintain detailed documentation including data mapping sheets, migration design, validation reports, and SOPs.
  • Maintain tasks in Jira reflecting latest status and reporting.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 15+ years of experience in ETL, data migration, or database engineering roles.
  • Strong hands-on experience with PL/SQL, Oracle databases, and ETL pipelines.
  • Proven experience in data field mapping, requirement gathering, and business workflow understanding.
  • Prior experience working with pharmaceutical or life sciences data domains (e.g., Master Data, Clinical Data, Regulatory, ERP).
  • Strong understanding of data governance, data quality, and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work independently in an onsite client-facing role.
  • Experience leading onsite–offshore delivery models.

Nice-to-Have

  • Experience with ETL tools such as Informatica, Talend, SSIS, or DataStage.
  • Working knowledge of cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Understanding of pharma domain systems like Veeva, SAP, LIMS, or Clinical systems
